hit and miss

I think Costa is using the wrong label for these "projects". Calvin Klein should be focussed on dressing a grown woman, and not be a label to express these, almost academic/student-ish experiments. I don't think he offers a singular vision on what the Calvin Klein-woman should wear next season, which I find dissapointing.

On the other hand, some of his experiments just blow me away. The cardboard box-like cutting and finishing really works beautifully on some tops. But there's a lack of poetry. And it needs poetry to make it feel more human, like Raf at Jil Sander.

Some dresses are beautiful in its simplicity, while others just make me feel a bit awkward...

I really like this. It's not his best (that title still goes to f/w 07) but this is wonderfully done. He's really managed to take the minimalism that's part of the CK DNA and bring it further than crisp, clean tailoring and simple dresses. This is almost decadent minimalism.

And I fail to see how many of the square shapes could be any more hideous or unflattering than the glut of sack-like shapeless Marni-esque dresses that have been such a dominant force in fashion lately. These are more interesting than two rectangles of fabric stitched together with holes for arms and neck.

i'm sure once they alter it and what not for the masses it will be not so extreme. which is better imo.

wow, what a treat. I'm quite impressed with the constructions. He's really pushing the envelope this season. Though I really second telepathicgoat's p.o.v, some of the garments look un-Calvin Klein and to the extreme of a fashion school's projects. Still I quite love it. He's brilliant and I fail to see any Balenciaga resemblance

WHat a lame collection. There is no excitement, no flavour and no originality whatsoever. Whoever made this needs to be fired even if it's Calvin himself. Maybe just a bit of colour would have helped make this collection look a bit more impressive. THe shoes are ok though.

i dont like this.
well i like two or three dresses.
but i think the rest is repulsive.

omg, this is such a good collection, i love it!! really sophisticated, so great!

This is utterly beautiful
I think he's very much at the top of his game right now. He played so elegantly well with the shapes and I would say it's one of the few (if not the only) collections in NYC that's felt risky but so genuine and sincere this week, you can tell he's really trying but he's not devouring other people's work or his own past.. he's playing and he's doing it with modesty, which is rare to witness these days. Very lovely. I would love to own a good half of this at least.

Wow...this is truly an "origami" collection, and I don't mean a flock of fabric cranes tacked to the hem of a skirt. Costa is really folding some sublime fabric around the body in intriguing ways. It makes you LOOK at the wearer without resorting to the sort of flashy heavy cliched design gestures like 1 metre wide crinolines. It's true that the clothes are not for the faint-hearted and might stand out more than the woman, but if the woman is a confident unique person herself, the outfit will complement her.

I'm not convinced by every look, but each piece is intricate and invites admiration of its detail construction. I have to applaud Costa for taking the risk and pushing the envelope time after time. He stays with his mininalism aesthetic but changes his design approach with each collection. That's a great example of keeping to your design style and philosophical core without repeating and recycling your work. He's pushing the brand much more than Calvin Klein himself ever did! What a brilliant designer!!

I cannot speak for all women but I bet there are some who aren't buying every designer piece based on how the outfit flatters her body, so there's room for statement pieces like these. I see a lot of collectibles here, a lot of entrance-making pieces I would love to get my hands on. This is one of those rare, architectural, highly memorable collections. My most sincere gratitude and good wishes to Costa.

I love it! I really like how he played with the forms and shapes this season!

i only like a few pieces from this collection. but i do see the balenciaga resemblence.

I like some of the collection. Not all of it, but some. It's not very wearable or original, but I think that a lot of the pieces are aesthetically pleasing and I do think the models pulled it off.

I was expecting to hate it from the first couple of pics, so this has been a pleasant surprise. :flower:

I thought a few dresses were cute, but some of the pieces are very unflattering imho.
