Marc Jacobs S/S 2009 New York

Most of the looks are horrendous, I suppose if you pull some of them apart there are some nice pieces. Only some.
The one piece I like is that fifties dress with the blue and black belt.
But you can see the Margiela boldly, and he has admitted to being very influenced by him.
He's also admitted to not being very inspired and it's showed.
I suppose I can see the Franco-African influence in some of the pieces, but others are just awful and I can't imagine people wanting to wear it.

i like the clothes quite a lot for the most part..i'm excited to see them individually.

but why did he bleach out the models' eyebrows? they all look awful, & I can't even tell who is who!

Its was not as provoking as previous seasons...after wacthing the show I'm not a big fan. That said it will look good on some people I think.

I snuck into the show tonight. I was my first fashion show and it was a lot of fun. Pandemonium outside and before the show. Very cool vibe and the clothing was great. I'd post pictures but I'm sure you guys will get the best quality shots imaginable. I must say, for a guy, I was top 10 dressed in the building. All in all a really fun night.

What did you wear?

This is probably the first Marc Jacobs collection that I love at first sight. Usually it's like Prada for me: you don't quite get the aesthetic, but after a few days, it warms up on you.

At first, it reminded me last season's Dolce & Gabbana collection, with their hideous country cowgirl theme. But then, towards the end, the final gowns were really beautiful for being a Marc Jacobs collection.
And then, the collection grew on me and I recognized the beauty of the collection was on the details, like the obi belts, the earrings, the little jackets, etc.
I'm not keen with the total looks, but I think if you mix them with other looks, they would be ravishing. ^_^

Maybe I will be the only one here...but I don't like it at all :ninja: Please don't hurt me,I'm only little! Theres maybe only 2 dresses I like. The rest,I can't remember, which maybe sums it up for me

Is Jacobs trying to become the American Lacroix?

The missing brows actually looks gorgeous on some and ghastly on others.

The shoes are gorgeous and the accessories, too Milan '06!

me too! ^

I like the belt on the last 3 dresses! :) Vlada looks really cute.

it looks gorg' on blond girls and bad on brunettes, non ?
that's what i thought ...
^_^

In the wake of Saint Laurent's death, Marc has managed to channel the insanity that he brought to the Rive Gauche line in the mid 70's. All the details were zapped into the 21st Century through the spyglass of an american in Paris....sheer P E R F E C T I O N.

((((( B R A V O !!! ))))

After looking this over a few times, I feel like it sort of picks up where f/w 06 left off. It's not just in the layering, though that is an obvious similarity.

About the bleached brows, I don't think it has to do with hair color as much as it does the bone structure. If you've got a very strong brow bone and deep set eyes, removing your eyebrows makes that even more pronounced which can have the unfortunate effect of making the model look like a neanderthal.

it reminded me of YSL during the early to mid 70s , same energy , similar references but marc came up with something relevant for todays times like YSL did in the 70s. It will be interesting to see how Pilati interprets YSL's energy because IMO , Marc does a much better job than Pilati of capturing that same buzz 70s YSL had .

Wow. I'm surprised so many people like this collection.

It just seems . . . messy to me. :ermm:

I like the blue and yellow outfit on Du Juan, and the two striped dresses, but everything else bores me.

I liked his S/S 08 collection much better than this one. Similar aesthetic, but done with a little more humor. :innocent:

the colors, the shoes, the details....its a weid idea but I think Marc Jacobs should be at YSL. This proves it, his color pallete is so brilliant just like the late Yves.
