CANADA crowned Miss Universe

Bangkok -- Blue-eyed Canadian brunette Natalie Glebova was crowned Miss Universe 2005 in the Thai capital today in the 54th annual pageant.

The 23-year-old model from Toronto was picked over runner-up Cynthia Olavarria of Puerto Rico after answering a final question about what she considered the biggest challenge of her life.

"I always try to maintain a positive outlook on life," she said, adding that remaining optimistic was most challenging.

Ms. Glebova, who studies information technology management at Toronto's Ryerson University, was born in Russia. She moved to Canada with her parents at age 12.

But she's beautiful and I'm proud of her. You should have heard what the other girls answers were.. She was by far the best.

^ Oh, I don't doubt that. And to be honest, it's usually the character of the questions (what do you answer to "What do you consider the biggest challenge of your life?") that make the answers sound lame. I still enjoy making fun of them, though.

That maybe true but I personally LOVE to watch em...and adore the dresses...

Yeah I agree with odelay I wasn't impressed with the dresses. I only liked three of them miss USA, Canda, and peurto rico. The other were too promish or childish I know they were all young but they shouldn't dress like it in a pageant and I really despise how some of them still continue to wear half-bikini-half-dress gowns there's a seperate showing for bikini's they shouldn't feel like need to combine the two.

My fiance was rooting for Miss Venezuela and when she answered her question he just screamed "there goes he chance, she's an idiot!"
