I wonder it the guardian laws are the same here in Canada. But come to think of it, I don't remember any reality contestant under 18.
Anyway, really contrived interview of Sylvie. Is "I'm just mellow" a euphemism for "I'm doing too much pot?"

Reality Bites – Canada’s Next Top Model – Week 1
Twenty-three-year-old Sylvie Majcher recently had her modeling dreams temporarily dashed in front of a huge TV audience!
Sylvie (Andrew MacNaughtan)
The gorgeous blond, whose hometown is Sherwood Park, AB, was the first girl to get kicked off Canada’s Next Top Model. The series is our own version of Tyra Banks’ reality show search for the runway’s next big thing.
Each week the girls compete in photo shoots and modeling tasks and then manage to stay in the running for another week, or get booted by a panel of expert judges.
Here’s what Sylvie had to say about her experience the day after the first episode of Canada’s Next Top Model aired. Come back next week to hear from the next unlucky contestant.
Q. Were there any moments in the show you found embarrassing?
A. No, I wasn’t embarrassed. I was a little disappointed, but that was about it.
Q. How do you feel now?
A. I feel good. I feel really lucky that I was able to get on the show and I thought I did a good job.
Q. What would you do differently if you had the chance to do it all again?
A. I’d probably wear something different to the last judging, but other than that I wouldn’t really do anything differently….they judged me a lot on how I was dressed.
Q. Where do you go from here?
A. I want to keep pursuing modeling and maybe get into acting and see what happens.
Q. What did we not see in the first episode that you think people should know about you?
A. Probably just that the judges misinterpreted my attitude I think. They kind of made my sarcastic mellow attitude into me having an attitude problem, which I don’t.
Q. Who’s the toughest judge on the show?
A. Probably Jeanne Beker. She’s tough, but she tells it how it is, which is awesome.
Q. Who do you predict will win?
A. I hope Dawn from Calgary wins, just cause she’s beautiful and she has a really awesome personality, so that’s who I’m rooting for.
Q. Were there any girls who you met and knew right away if you’d stuck around you would have had run-ins with?
A. I’m pretty relaxed, but I’m sure when the weeks went by, their true personalities came out and I’m sure there were some cat fights.
Q. What do you think it was about you that got you on the series?
A. I think it was my personality and the fact I was totally different than most of the models. I was more of a tomboy, kind of carefree.
Stacey (Andrew MacNaughtan)
Q. What is it about modeling that interested you in the first place?
A. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do since I was a kid and I just never really pursued it and I just got an opportunity.
Q. What’s your advice for people who want to audition for the next season?
A. Just be yourself and just really put in the effort of why they really want to be a model.
Stacey McKenzie was one of the judges who had a hand in getting Sylvie off the show. Here’s what she had to say about the first episode:
What did you like about Sylvie?
A. She was very natural, she wasn’t trying to be something she’s not.
Q. What should she have done differently?
A. She has some grooming to do…I just didn’t see the overall for her. I see her as a television/film bombshell and [we want] a girl that covers all aspects of the industry. They’ve got to walk down the runway for Christian Dior and then turn around and do the Banana Republic ad. She has to be versatile in all areas.
She does have potential, but it’s a competition [and someone had to go]. </B>
Q. When you saw the girls for the first time, who really struck you?
A. Well Andrea struck me because she had the quirkiest styles going on. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw her was she reminded me of me when I first came to Canada (from Jamaica). I think the style was just off-the-wall. She made it work.
They all stood out in other areas.
Q. What makes a great model?
A. We need the basics, like the beauty, the bod, but also personality. She has to be able to hit all aspects of the industry. There’s got to be a little bit of uniqueness to her.
Q. Can you give us a tease about what’s coming up in the show?
A. There’s a lot of drama! Of course there’s going to be drama, you’re putting 10 girls in a house together…and they’re competing!
