...uh, where does she SAY she feels like she's Ghandi? At least she's a) doing something, b) is truly compassionate, c) is using her star power for a good cause. It's quite clear from this thread alone what power celebrities have in the world this day, and I'd rather have Angelina Jolie going around and raising awareness for world issues through her celebrity because it matters more when a celebrity does it, these days, than if it were some random individual. I applaud her for doing what she's doing - I'd much rather have her doing that than acting like Britney and Kevin.

This is the wrong thread for an argument on this, I'm sure, but I can't let the statement "it matters more when a celebrity does it" go by unchallenged. You know what Angelina Jolie does? She goes places and has a photo-op. It "raises awareness." Sure, you guys know she was in Pakistan and covered up, but unless the people on this and other celeb-watching boards suddenly go out and decide to devote their life to charity, she hasn't really done anything to help anybody. Saying something like this is a slap in the face to the men and women who have dedicated their lives to helping others. You know, the one who don't get any fame or good pr from it. The ones who don't have all that much money that they can afford to do charity when it suits them. The ones who doesn't just do it when they have a couple of days to take a break from five star hotels, dazzling clothes, and red carpets.

Brittany donates money to charity too, just because she doesn't have people photographing her checks and donations doesn't mean she is not doing anything. How many people on here donated money or volunteer just because they saw a picture of Angelina Jolie helping others? Average people don't even see this pictures. Charity is charity it doesn't matter more just because it's a celebrity doing it, we are all equal. The people I respect are people who do this day to day and dedicate every single second of their lives helping people and they are not doing it for the fame nor do they try to get recognition for it by going on television and bragging about the charity they do.


Celebrities don't have as much power to motivate people to do anything, sure people will acknowledge the problem but they are not going to do a darn thing about it unless they want to. The only power that celebrities have on this thread is how people dress, or helping people know what kind of things are coming in style, and again it's only people like you and me who are addicted to the computer that see this thing and it's a very small percentage of the populatioon. I don't see how having Angelina do charity work is much better than having a regular person do charity work the results are the same. That being said, I am glad that she is doing something to help others.

seriously, so me of you ppl take these pics way too seriosly...all the people that are insulting Miss.Jolie should maybe look at what she does for the world....do any of you actually know her personaly????do you know if she actualy stole brad????? in my eyes, her contributions to the world...ie.her charitable work, far outweigh that little scandal...i wish that ppl would leave her alone
