The fact that Carla's birthday is 2 days earlier that Helena's doesn't prove anything, just like the fact that you think you remember that, according to her agency profile it is '68.Aren't you supposed to prove it by showing your source?

I can't wait!! There is one American Presidential candidate who has a very elegant wife, and I have to admit I would love to see her as First Lady too!! It's about time we got some positive fashion and social role models again- this casual garbage has been around too long... B)

Boomer - Totally agree with your comments;) I too was getting fedup of the usual try too hard desperate celebs. It is fantastic, we at long last, have such a fabulous role model. She has shown in just a few hours she can more than cut it as France First Lady, I can see her being a Global Icon!.

Thanks to everyone for all the posts, pics and videos of Carla - This is a great thread!:woot:

Carla turned 40 last december (2007).Nicolas had thrown her a party for the occasion, inviting all her friends and family at La lanterne.(where they were pictured the day after they tied the knot).

when she came to London this week she looked f l a w l e s s! i wish camilla, prince charles' wife would take a hint >______>, trust the frenchies to show us how its done in Christian Dior!

SHSH Agree! Camilla does occasionally get it right but guess Carla is the the perfect beauty to start off with.
Does anyone know if there were any photos from the Wedding? All I read here was that she wore a simple suit but no other details - bet she looked stunning!

I just had to post this article - It kinda sums up the effect Carla has had on us in the UK! This columnist is usually very synical - yet she too has fallen in love with Carla after her visit.

Are there any French people out there? I would love to hear your views and that of the French press after the success of the UK visit!

she did look intriguing and beautiful and beguiling and all that...
but i find the press coverage fascinating. what a transformation, a coup, to pull off. from "manstealing" rock chick to demure politician's wife.

but i personally hate how the press compares her to the other politicians' wives. i guess it's only natural when the differences is so marked (but i hate how women are always pitted against each other). camilla and sarah (with 'h' or without? hmmm) will never in a million years look like carla bruni. they'd look foolish if they tried. i think it's admirable that camilla has a style that suits her personality and her lifestyle. we can't all be supermodels.

quimby I actually think that Camilla can look fabulous - her wedding outfit was superb and I adore the Queen - she is amazing. I just think it is great to have someone with such effortless elegance to look at instead of the usual desperate, attention-seeking celebs.

Haha - Carole is priceless! First time I have ever known her be nice!!

So pretty... :crush:

all the UK press coverage was just wrong. My boyfriend was so frustrated with it because it was just a constant feed of 'carla bruni this carla bruni that' and then big long articles about how obsessed people were with her when there was nothing else in the news. It's like the media putting out all this stuff and then reporting on how much stuff is out there! Anyway, it's just English people's nature to be like this, imo (which i also stated to my boyfriend who disagreed and then had another go at the press).

That purple and grey looks lovely on her though

English people's nature to be like what?? Trust me there is plenty of doom and gloom in the UK news at the moment ( Recession, Crime, Injustice, Fraud,Teenage murders to name a few) that it is just nice to have something positve and nice to focus on.I for one prefer that people have been positive towards her - even if perhaps over the top - than all the usual negativity....just my opinion!

totally agree. at least sometimes we need to re-focus ourselves from negative things and even within politics

Absolutely right KissMiss :) Carla has been an amazing distraction and what I like is that even some of the hard face and sometimes bitchy sections of the media, have been so
positive towards her too - just makes a change from all the usual bad news!

I do enjoy her face. My point was just that the media was going mental over her and I do not think it's indicative of the British population as a whole, at all. It's just this obsession of finding another princess diana.

Really like those last shots of her face though. Her cheekbones are just....mental

meg I guess we can be a bit over the top ha ha! As lovely as Diana was, personally I think Carla is far more naturally beautiful and sophisticated than Diana ever was. Perhaps we are so obsessed because we have no one here in the UK to compare her with and are desperate for some real sophistication! :)

I've always admired Carla's style as a model. It would be great to see childhood photos of her before she became a model.
