Maria Cornejo: 'I've Met Carla Bruni Before And There's Not Much Up There'

Designer Maria Cornejo had an interesting response to if she'd rather dress Michelle Obama or First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy at the New Yorker Festival over the weekend. Style.com reports that Cornejo answered, "I've met Carla Bruni before and there's not much up there," but of Michelle, Cornejo said, "She's actually doing things that are interesting. She's not just arm candy."

Cornejo has, in fact, both praised and clothed FLOTUS before. She previously told HuffPost blogger Sabine Heller that she designs for "strong, brainy women like Michelle Obama," and that she admires Michelle's "compassion, intelligence and the fact that she's an inspiration to so many. She has a lot of humility."

Well, i wouldn't want to see Carla in her designs. What an indelicate answer to make.

Everyone has there opinions and I respect that, but her answer was a little insensitive..

What a rude thing to say! What´s the point?

It´s so difficult still for us womens not to be bitchy against gorgeous women....

Sad. Unnecesary, She just could have said: I prefer Madame Obama because of this or that. No need to bash or be ironic.

This is actually funny. Nothing up there? Sorry but an average girl does not speak 3 languages, write their own songs, and play an instrument. Hell next to moste people she comes of as genius.

And another thing, very of topic. But does anyone maybe know what kind of
books she reads, or authors she prefers?

I know that she reads a lot of poetry : Neruda, Yeats, René Char, Baudelaire, Dickinson, Pessoa, Emily Dickinson, Fouad El-Etr ... I don't know if she actually read it, but she, for sure, knows about Nietzche and his philosophy ( she talked about it in an interview with the guardian, I think ). She's also very interested in Freud.

I've heard she also likes Michel Houllebecq...

thanks guys. I've read somewhere that she enjoyed dostoyevsky in her modeling years.

still cant believe that shes so into psychanalysis. Personally I think I would go mad. And question everything I do.

She must be hiding somewhere...with all this mess surrounding her hubby. Miss her....
