regarding the boots, I'm not sure I understand your question as you pretty much answered it - the cut is different due to the zipper placement.

as for the belts, the buckles are generally interchangable. in the earlier season double buckle belt the belt width is constant, but in the 09 belt the strap narrows down so one of the two buckles is smaller than the other.

Has anyone had the good fortune to see both the mens and fe-male collection to compare sizing. I have taken the mens size 5 I am female and wonder how the fe-male sizing compares. I understand it is more narrow, which usually is the case. I hope the whole feeling is not changed for the shoes and boots being translated from men to women sizing??? Does anyone have an opinion on this. Maybe someone from Japan ????

another difference is the last.
the inside-to-back zip one originally comes in "disparate" where the left foot shape design is slightly chunkier/wider than the right foot. or the right foot form is a bit sharper than the left.
but you can order the model in non-disparity too, that is, they can produce the model symmetrically if you like that better. but they can only conform the right to the left. not the other way round.
although I don't know how your store ordered it, in either case you might want to be careful about how it looks on you rather than how it fits. if you'd like your boot to look as sharp as possible, your choice might be the inside zip one which is more of a classic/standard which also may feel a bit more fitted especially around the ankle than the inside-to-back zip one.

that said, I think you don't have to change sizes depending on styles.



about the belt, as mikelowrey said, the current version has a gradual taper. it has the changing phase on the strap width in accordance with the disparate ( phase-change of one thing ) concept from this collection.

there should be those who could wear two sizes from both mens and womens. but even if they are able to walk in either of them, they cannot help noticing the difference in how they look on him/her.
the womens model looks more compact. I'd say it will look like there is something slightly wrong if it's a man in a womens model because his foot can look a bit too little for man, balance/proportion-wise ( mens build, the size of his hand, other mens items he is wearing, etc ).
but if it's woman in a mens model, I think it works.
there is a woman who wore mens models with plural insoles in them when ccp hadn't produced any womens version. she looked cool.

CCP footwear

Runner thank you for your opinion... Althou I am still wondering about the fit. Up until now I have ordered mens size 5 they are a tiny bit big but I like the look. Now that Carol Christian is doing the fe-male again I was going to take a 39 but am concerned it maybe narrow and loose the look. I am in NY state and nowhere is there a retailer for both sexes or fe-male at all. So long distance is a problem. Have you had the opportunity to compare up close both mens and fe-male????

so, the inside-to-back zip one can be a bit more roomier or the inside zip one is a bit more fitted/little.
yes I get to see mens and womens at the same time. but my store has never bought a 5. and also all the ccp mens samples are a 10 or a 9 sometimes, while the womens ones are a 38 or a 39. so what I saw have never been the two of your options.
anyway I think the mens smaller sizes could be slightly bigger in some points than the womens larger sizes although the difference may be subtle while I'd say the womens safely keeps "the whole feeling" and "the look".
and if you are a believer in what is called divine proportion or are really picky about the original beauty, which you seem to be, the mens could be closer to it than the womens. because the zipper parts for example are not scaled down accordingly. the bigger choice is closer.
