True, walking through Birger Jarlsgatan, I saw many Swedes, mostly in Emporio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc. The styles were pretty sleek but nothing new or extraordinary..nothing comparable to CCP.

Swedes definately have good taste decorating homes, though. Industrial design in Sweden is top quality.

Well,Sweden is notorious for being extremely slick when it comes to design. But I think the preception is beginning to change a bit with the emergence of alot of Scandinavian transplants in London and Paris et al. Much quirkier things are arising,I think.

Thanks for the boot pics...they are amazing! 1400$...my oh my....

Yeah, I just can't justify spending more than my rent on a pair of shoes!

Yeah, I'd never buy them. There are things I find much more interesting for less money.

Lars : I wasnt saying that any shop carried CCP. I said that you could find pieces at some shops in various cities around Sweden. I'm currently positioned in Sweden and I found a pair of trousers at one of the larger second hand shops in Stockholm (No not Lisa Larsson)

I thought Swedish was out and Danish, Finlandish, Icelandic was IN.
My visits to N.A and Asia sure tells me that Sweden is far too connected with IKEA

And, if that's all you pay for rent in Chelsea, well, dammit - is there an apartment next to you?!

Hey, I'm going to Stockholm in May. Can you recommend some good second hand shops (as well as anything else that comes to mind and that I can't read in a tourist guide)? I'd greatly appreciate it. PM me, if you don't want to take this thread off topic.

Yeah, well, you have to apply for one within a certain time frame - ideally like 12 years ago.

Well, you're right in some sense, actually. Denmark in particular seems like the Antwerp of Scandinavia at the moment. But there are a couple good Swedish designers(albeit not easy to love for alot)like Ann-Sofie Back in London and Catherine Giacomini in Paris. Then you've got the veteran in Julie Skarland who does really enchanting things. I think since alot of them are basing themselves elsewhere and experimenting with things, they're sort of getting away from that "slickness" or that IKEA association.

It's not alot,no,but so far I've been extremely impressed by their strong visions.

I like Sweden's vision of design, particularly industrial. When I went to Sweden I noticed that everything was done with perfection and diligence. No wonder Sweden is 2nd in the world in Human Development and Quality of Life, 2nd only to Norway.

Swedish fashion, however, is based on trends, from what I saw. Last time I went was like 2 years ago. Everyone had their faded Levis jean jackets and their jeans with the hem pulled up. Swedes are very trendy in general, especially the teens. Then there are the Swedish designers like Filippa Knutsson and J. Lindeberg. I don't particularly like them but they are popular in Sweden.

IKEA is exagerated. It's not the only Swedish industrial design labe, but it's certainly the worst. There are many others that are wonderful but haven't received such fame because of prices, etc.

Finland..Finland is very design oriented as well. I want to study in Helsinki.

Carol Christian Poell: the Spinal Tap of haute couture. Spinal Tap's amps go up to ELEVEN, CCP's pure cotton shirts contain polyester. "You zee vith vat genius I constrooct my fazhions? I make you a 100% cotton szhirt, you must hev that, but I geeve you oon extra 35% of zynthetic material to add zee structure and zo you don't hev to eye-ron it!"

100% Cotton, 35% polyester. Genius.

That must be a mistake or so. I'm confused..

ok,I've always been a ccp and balenciaga fan

but...

CCP is my favorite designer period. Are all those pictures from CCP?

He is wonderful. However, 100% Cotton, 35% polyester?

And..
