Carol Christian Poell - Designer

Does anyone else find this move incredibly annoying, pretentious, overly precious, etc.? It's like "Oh I can't sell my shoes anymore because someone might copy them, and I don't want mainstream stores to be interested in my work." I love the guy's stuff, but that totally turns me off. Just make your damn clothes and shoes.

Absolutely Alex. Too the words right outa ma mouth!!!

I also actually think the "theft" thing is an apochryphal story to enhance his mystique...............:innocent: . For all that people go on about his clothes, they are sold in about three stores worldwide, and at least in those of those stores that I've been in, there are plenty of garments left from previous seasons....... Maybe he just ran out of money for a while.

at least in italy the stores keep only current season clothes-outside from what I saw some stores use to work like outlets sometime, anyway ccp has no season, for sure money remans a problem for the most of the creative people out there

Hello there. Your post will most likely be deleted, as eBay links aren't permitted here at TFS, but I'll gladly post the pictures for you. Welcome to TFS, by the way. :flower:

btw, there is a sandbag the Russian military etc seems to use that apparently he got some inspiration from.
I could not find the pic.
but it reminds me of this creature which belongs to the shellfish family.

Was it something like this? I remember my brother bringing one home after he demobilized.

I saw a similar Poell bag at Atelier (made of leather) - they said there was only one in the world, made especially for them.

it looks like a little water hummingbird

it's sad that he will stop making his shoes, but now everyone can be happy that they have bona fide collector's items.

im sorry to say.. as much as i like ccp stuff i dont like those boots!
theyre beautiful but ID NEVER wear them.. i love his lace up shoes on the other hand.. and i dont see why he should bother so much about his ideas being stolen anyway... or is he worried that he is running out of ideas? isnt that the way the fashion cycle works.. creative ppl have to be more creative these days.. kudos to the person who said he was being an uptight snob.. an excuse not to come up with new things imho!

Oh, sorry, I was referring to the "seen" part of your question :p. I would've loved to have them though. His boots usually run at least 1 size large. I liked these in person - well done. They'll probably look best with a pair of pants over them ending where the closing can still be seen.

i have been looking for that colour of CCP boots for sooooo long...i told to the staff in Libaray London, they couldn't find it for me...poor...T__T
