Thanks for the posting of pictures Runner. In my honest opinion, after following Carol Christian's work for some time and in looking at it all compared with most menswear designers there's nobody as innovative and contemporary as he and Raf Simons are.

any new article or interview recently? i cant find the one i mentioned, also its from 2004. ever saw a picture of him? thx

thanks new dawn fades
they knitted leather as yarn into that piece.
seemingly, it doesn't look like leather. just a gorgeous sweater knitted sort of lightly.
trying it on, looking close, you might find it heavy and hard and heterodox for a sweater.
but light and soft and warm for something like chain mail.

about the shirt, I'll post the better pic of it when the scanner is repaired.

I tried on a new season CCP cotton jacket recently. Quite amazingly cut........the arms were beautiful.....very narrow and very slightly flared at the wrist. The inside construction work was exposed and felt amazing. IT was finished, inside, with bright yellow overlock stitching. Very nice but, guess what, very (too) expensive..... And too "precious", and slightly feminine, for me. But for CCP fans, def worth a look. IT did not have the usual exaggerated "spiked" shoulders.

I saw the jacket in question. Fantastic, indeed. There was a guy trying it on, and it looked too "severe" - definitely not a iota of forgiveness in Carol's cuts. Also saw the matching pants with the elongated saddle - stunning in quality, appearance, feeling, and most of all stunning in price. But, my favorite was a dress shirt slightly ruched in the sleeves and down the front button-line by means of a sewn in wire - just genius. That would've beeen $700 well spent, if you ask me...

That's so funny faust - i tried that shirt on with the jacket!!:D . It was a very strong look.......actually it was very sleek, almost (god I'm going to get it for this) Gucci-esque in its sleekness. I loved that shirt more as a "thing" than as a piece of clothing. The wire thing is very clever indeed. But with the two on together, it was very restricting. I was finding it hard to hold my breath (i.e. tummy!) in for the whole time I was trying it on. I decided that this was maybe a bad sign...........

Cool B) Yea, Hedi has nothing on Carol in terms of a slim cut. I think Carol takes it to an unhealthy extreme. I, too, mostly admire his clothes as "objects".

huge news.
after this season carol will no longer be doing any shoes or boots.
ccp has decided that his footwear is becoming too commerical and
is afraid of it being copied. after being offered orders from jeffrey
and barneys ccp decided enough is enough. this spring is the last season
to buy footwear by ccp.

wtf??does that mean higher prices for existing ones? F&*K!!!!!
hey but isnt the nature of fashion like that... even the most original things are bound to be copied! i dont see why hes worried... im still saving up for a pair of his shoes and now this news... great!:cry::cry:

carol is an interesting person. his notebook was stolen last year and he didn't do a collection for two seasons because he was afraid of being copied. he isn't at all concerned with commerical success. he's only worried about his art. he doesn't like that his shoes and boots have more attention than his clothing.

yes.. i do understand his psychology... i fell in love with his work the moment i set my eyes on it... each piece is beautiful in its own right... i cant possibly like everthing but he is one of my Favourite designers... wasnt his lab raided...i heard something like that.. it takes dedication not to be worried about commercial succes.. is he self financed? and as beutiful as his clothing might seem.. most people havent seen any footwear like his before.. its totally unique..that object dying technique is stunning!

someone apparently broke in and stole his sketchbooks and laptop among other persona affects. but it was obvious that was what they wanted. they weren't really after things with monitary value.
