Love this look, even if the shape of the pants is a bit weird. Her makeup is much better here, she's glowing.

So in the GG thread, somebody mentioned this gown is a few seasons old? But the colour is different? Who made it when and what was the original colour?

Givenchy, Couture Fall 2010. It was originally just white. I think Naomi Campbell wore it to some charity or gala event a while back.

Then remade in a yellow hue for the RTW SS126 show.

Then made again for Cate with the pink hues.

I wish I could like her GG look, but I just don't. Ricardo should have pulled out all the stops for her, or at least picked something incredible from the archives, but this is just unflattering and too busy

I think the back is exquisite (and to me Cate can do no wrong because it's refreshing to see someone experiment) BUT I think another archival dress would've been a better choice, also the hair is really weird. To me she looks incredible in Armani.

^unfortunately it is true. Not flattering at all and too much fringes to me taste

She was one of the best dressed but as I noted in the GG thread, Riccardo Tisci has become so incredibly lazy changing the colour of a dress and calling it custom made.

I think it's embarrassing, for her stylist above all, that she wore a re-run, even though she looked stunning.

I really cannot get on board with this look. From the unflatting fit that makes her look very wide to the weird club-kid hairdo it just wasn't her night.

Thanks for the info Mugler!

I too have mixed feelings about the gown. I want to like it but it's far too busy. A little less fringe, a little more colour, a better fit -- would have helped out Cate immensely. I don't mind that it's an older gown. I wish more actresses would dig through designer archives and bring back the goods, but this wasn't a good case of recycling or remaking a gown. The back is very pretty though.

I actually love it! The hair is perfect for this dress - sleek and futuristic. I love the fringe, I love the pale pink against her platinum looks, it's a winner for me.

I completely agree. Cate Blanchett can wear anything, before anybody and she ends up wering this. Also not a huge fan of the color, the pink looked very harsh.

However I do think that Riccardo is the laziest designer when it comes to bespoke pieces and he's been playing that game for way too long.

This is one of her best looks in a long time for me. Love the color with her pale skin, and the sculpted up do.
