Celebrity phone hacker claims Johansson and Kunis

Do you think it's a way for young actresses to get jobs? Sending nude pics to male (and female) directors and cast mate? And by jobs I mean actual acting jobs as well as becoming certain people's girlfriends...

^that would be stupid and a serious blackmail that they could hang over them for a long time

Yes. Both Megan Fox and Gwyneth Paltrow have spoken about the casting couch in Hollywood. If they are sleazy enough to ask for sex, they are sleazy enough to ask for dirty pictures. And if it happens to actresses like Megan and Gwyneth, you can bet it definitely happens for actresses that are just starting out. Even Gwyneth, with her Oscar and Hollywood connections (Bruce's daughter, Spielberg's goddaughter) got the casting couch. And then you look back at other actresses who have taken risque pictures early in their career that they later tried to block, like Cameron Diaz (I believe she made a video that was basically like p*rn).

^Could not agree more Caroliiine if it happened to someone as powerfully connected as Gwyneth Paltrow it must happen all the time to a lot of these young actresses.

i third this. it's happening on daily basis to almost every newcomer in HW. it's awful.

I can't account for other people, but I'm definitely not saying that people shouldn't take nudes if the don't want them leaked. What I am saying is that I don't get why so many celebs take nudes of themselves, regardless of the phone hacking thing.

The casting couch is awful. And if sending nude pics on cellphones is, in fact, some sort of adjuct of it, then that is sad, too. However, the actresses could just say no. If they have the talent, they will break through with the right film & person, and by refusing be to be exploited, they would hold onto their integrity without being reduced to their sex / appeal. I am not trying to blame the victim, but in some circumstances, it is possible to just. Say. NO.

Side issue: this is precisely why the world NEEDs more female producers, directors, camera operators, designers, fashion photographers, politicians, presidents, and so on and so forth. I suspect we'd have a wild awakening about the world!

^ A big fat YES to your last paragraph. Women need to support female filmmakers whether you like them or not. I never saw The Hurt Locker but I support Kathryn because of her past projects. Just because Catherine Hardwick made Twilight doesn't mean she sucks. I really wish Susan Downey would be more vocal rather than just being known as Roberts wife to the public. She has her name attached to some great films. Guy Richie works with her cause she gets thing done. We also need more men in HW to support these women like Ridley Scott (apparantly his team is pretty much all women). I'm still miffed at Spielberg over the Megan Fox Transformer hooplar.

^I agree with both of you. :flower:

I wonder who this hacker (or hackers) will target next?
I doubt they will go after someone high profile (a la Brad and Angelina...not that either of them have nudes).

I also think that celebs take them more than us normal folk because their jobs require so much travel! If you can't be with your boyfriend/girlfriend in person because of work, then I think that phone/cyber flirting and sexual interaction is pretty common and is no big deal.

Errrr, you're saying we women ought to use positive discrimination to get more women in the business? If you don't like someone, just don't support them, doesn't matter if they're a man or a woman. It's not about gender at all..

Im sorry but I agree with JacquelineJane... if a person (regardless if they are famous or not) wants to take pictures and send them privately to another person then they should be able to... who honestly is thinking of someone hacking their phone on a daily basis?

Judging by the last 5 years, a celebrity should.

I think for most actresses; taking nude pics of yourself is unrelated to the casting couch, which I'm sure exists but is unrelated.

It's pretty normal to take nude pics of yourself; I admit I take nude pics of myself all the time and I keep them. To see what I look like, to send out to lovers etc. It's not weird at all to take nude photos of yourself; I'm sure that plenty of "normal" people do it. We've all taken self-portraits right? It's not a big deal at all.

It's very much about gender. In a truly equal world we could do as you suggest, but we are not at that stage yet, there is DISGUSTING amounts of inequality between the sexes when it comes to power in Hollywood and young women are being taken advantage of because of this. There's nothing wrong with affirmative action if it helps an oppressed group get to where they deserve to be.

Man Arrested in Scarlett Johansson Nude Photo Leak Case
By Liz Raftery

Wednesday October 12, 2011 03:15 PM EDT

A Florida man has been arrested in a cell-phone hacking case that led to naked photos of Scarlett Johansson ending up online.

Christopher Chaney, 35, was arrested Wednesday and charged with 26 counts of computer hacking, aggravated identity theft and wiretapping. He faces a maximum penalty of 121 years in federal prison.

Calling the investigation "Operation Hackerazzi," officials say Chaney hacked into the personal e-mail accounts of dozens of people in the entertainment industry. The indictment also lists Christina Aguilera and Mila Kunis.

"This [arrest] comes as a relief to the victims, many of whom suffered great distress," Steven Martinez, assistant director in charge of the FBI's L.A. field office, said at a news conference.

Chaney allegedly obtained victims' passwords and set their e-mail accounts to automatically forward to him, even if users reset their passwords, the charges state. This allegedly gave him access to financial information, movie scripts, photographs and private e-mails, as well as to contact lists to find other victims.
