TMZ reveals photo of John F. Kennedy on boat full of naked women

In an exclusive report by TMZ, a photo depicting John F. Kennedy on a boat full of naked women is the subject of great controversy. TMZ first addresses the issues of legitimacy regarding the photo. The article claims that the photo was taken in the mid 1950’s and that they had the photo examined to ensure that it was not altered or retouched. What is interesting to note, however, is that the photo shows two naked women off of the boat, one leaping into the water and another apparently climbing back on board. The top deck features two nude women who seem to be sunning themselves while John F. Kennedy is depicted on a lower level, by himself, apparently reading or sleeping. Does the fact that he appears isolated from the women indicate that the photo may be photoshopped?
TMZ states that a forensic photo expert, Professor Jeff Sedlik examined the photo and found no signs of tampering or manipulation. He felt that the photo was genuine.

It was suggested that the trip may have occurred while John F. Kennedy was Senator of Massachusetts (1953-1960) with the former being more plausible due to the technology used to take the photograph. John F. Kennedy was frequently rumored to have had affairs and to have enjoyed many women despite being married to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. He was rumored to have had a relationship with Marilyn Monroe and Mimi Beardsley Alford.


The report by TMZ indicates that John F. Kennedy took a two week Mediterranean trip while his wife, Jacqueline gave birth to their child by cesarean section; the child was still born. Should the image had been released in 1956, before the presidential election, there is no doubt the scandal would have crippled John F. Kennedy’s political career.


TMZ did not reveal the name of the man who originally owned the photo, nor did they state how the photo happened to come into his possession. They did say that the owner passed away approximately 10 years ago and that his son inherited the picture and has brought it to the public’s attention.

TMZ Falls For JFK Photo Hoax
DECEMBER 28--In a colossal screw-up, the gossip web site TMZ.com today published a photo purporting to show John F. Kennedy frolicking on a yacht with a harem of naked women--except that the image actually appeared as part of a November 1967 Playboy photo spread, The Smoking Gun has learned. The TMZ hoax was billed as an "exclusive" featuring a photo that "could have altered world events" had it surfaced prior to his presidential campaign. "It could have torpedoed his run, and changed world history," the site added.

“The JFK Photo That Could Have Changed History,” solemnly declared a headline on TMZ, which got picked up everywhere.

The site went on to brag that it had “obtained a never-before published photograph which appears to show John F. Kennedy on a boat filled with naked women — it’s a photo that could have altered world events.”

It might have, if… but we’ll get to the “if” in a moment.

TMZ continued, “We believe the photo was taken in the mid-1950s. It shows two naked women jumping off the boat and two more naked women sunning on the top deck. Just below the top deck — a man appearing to be John F. Kennedy is lying on a deck, sunning himself.”

The usually very reliable site then noted that it had ”multiple experts examine the photo,” and “The experts all concluded the photo appears authentic.”

So where did this come from?

According to TMZ, “A man who owned a car dealership on the East coast… [who] would brag to friends he had an image of JFK on a boat with naked women.” Huh?

TMZ concluded its post with “Had the photo surfaced when John F. Kennedy ran for President in 1960, it could have torpedoed his run, and changed world history.”

Well, it couldn’t have torpedoed anything because the photo was taken in 1967, four years after JFK was assassinated.

After the initial post, a TMZ visitor sent the site an e-mail, noting that the (non-Kennedy) photo first appeared in Playboy, a fact now confirmed by the nudie mag.

Whoops.

TMZ generally does a good job, but they made a mistake this time.

The scarier part of this story was not how TMZ got duped. Rather, it’s that some dude burned into his memory bank a naked shot from 42 years ago!

It's almost 2010, there will be plenty of modern political scandals to get excited about, no need to go down memory lane (or in this instance, false memory lane) but that's what happens if you pay a lot of money to people who can access celebrities' medical records, but not much to people who can actually perform simple research.
