Chanel Cerf Tote

I'm the one with the cerf toting mom and I can tell it's not shiny at all. pictures can be deceptive because of the lighting. and I can tell you that each SA will give you a different answer, even from other SAs working in the same store. and the heft of the cerf versus the new bag I saw today is quite noticeable -- the cerf was significantly heavier.

Perhaps the "Cerf" tote is just a regular Chanel tote style made in different materials i.e. deer skin, calf leather, camel skin (this was from ebay a while back) . My Singapore Chanel SA, who is also a Buyer for the store, has explained that the original "Cerf" tote was in deer skin but what they had in store (in S'pore) was not deer skin but calf leather.

Congratulations m4ryb3ar on your fantastic new bag. Have seen the brown in person and its a very nice brown, especially with the gold cc's.

I just went to beverly hills today and i saw the chanel cerf tote in brown, for the first time. I have only seen it in black and pink. But i must say that i now think that brown is waaayyy more appealing than the black (imo). Used to love this bag...but just doesnt float my boat anymore...lol purses to me replace guys...i fall in "love" with one and then jump from one to another...balenciaga to Fendi Spy Bag to chanel cerf tote lol.

anyone know when the new cerf totes are coming out? are they gunna be smaller or bigger? and are they still gonna have gold cc's?

Heard from the SA that the new cerf will be smaller and will not have the gold ccs but the madamosielle clasp in palladium

so today I saw another bag alongside the cerf that appears to be made of caviar calfskin, not deerskin, and has a rectangular non-CC gunmetal closure and no shoulder strap. it comes in the same size as the cerf and a smaller size which is more squat.

I think this might be the new one my SA was talking about. What do you think of this vs the cerf that your mom has ?

FYI- for anyone considering buying a Cerf bag, Chanel may be raising the price. This season, it's been $1650.00 (which is what I paid), but when I got mine shipped to me from the Honolulu store (the Beverly Hills store was out of them), the price tag attached to it read $1725.00. Usually, Chanel is pretty consistent with its pricing, so the higher price on the price tag may indicate a price increase.

I think this might be the new one my SA was talking about. What do you think of this vs the cerf that your mom has ?

I don't like the new hardware -- but that's me. also the new one doesn't have a shoulder strap, if that matters to you. and the leather seems to be different -- like it's caviar instead of deer. I recall the price being $1800+.

Hmm..this is a very tricky one.
The leather and the outside of the bag appears identical to my black cerf.
The white tag that came with the bag is the same number as the one that I have-but it can be faked.
Maybe you could ask the seller for the number that appears on the black authenticity card to check

However there are a few differences:

1. In the photo, the inner lining of the tote is dark grey, mine is black - I don't know if this is because this is an older tote though.

2. Chanel cloth label sewn inside the bag - the "reserved" trademark is much bigger and closer to the "L" in the name Chanel than the one I have.

It does look very much like the one that I have but there are discrepancies.

I have my doubts on its authenticity.

I think the greyness of the interior is caused by the flash. it looks okay to me, but why risk eBay when you can easily get a new one without the worries?

I was interested b.c I thought it would be a good price, and I don't think this bag is high on the list of faker bags, but who knows. Lilygirl is correct though - ebay makes me nervous. Its so hard to tell. Plus the used bag aspect bothers me. Thanks for your response.
