Chanel Haute Couture F/W 10.11 Paris

In my dumb opinion it is one of the worst chanel's collections. I despise those shoes, they look so tacky. And in general everything looks so heavy in a bad way. I think it contradics Coco's thought that a dress should emphasize woman's beauty, but in this case it looks like she is drowing in a mess.

I love bracelets though

does anyone know exactly what lipstick color and nail polish was used ?? was every model's color the same ?
its stunning ..

I never thought the day would come when I'd prefer a Dior couture collection over a Chanel....

Boomer, the one you posted is just part two of the collection. Here is part one :)

I'm not too fond of some of the dresses but I love the bracelets and the boots. The Lion Head on Baptiste Giabiconi is brilliant, I was not expecting that at all! I agree that it is not one of the best Chanel collection, but I quite like it. personally think it is haute couture, albeit the clothes are not completely over the top.

The setting is amazing. The music makes me want to shout for help but I only turned it off.

Found some info about the make-up on style.com :woot:

“We wanted to have one makeup element stand out without taking away the focus from the collection,” makeup artist Peter Philips told us from the Grand Palais yesterday, where Karl Lagerfeld staged Chanel’s latest couture spectacular. As is so often the case—in both real life and the world of fashion fantasy—that one element turned out to be a strong red lip with a matching manicure courtesy of Chanel’s Le Vernis in Rouge Fatale. Paired with a modern, nude face, the overall effect was classy with an edge, or “haute couture makeup with strong street credibility.” Philips built his pout in layers, beginning with an outline and filled-in base of Chanel lip liner in Carmin, followed by a few lashings of his Rouge Coco lip color in Rivoli, a dark crimson, which he blotted with a tissue and set using Chanel’s translucent Poudre Libre for a matte finish and extra hold. This three-pronged approach will guarantee you long-lasting, strong color intensity, says Philips, and that will no doubt serve you well for the many days of lipstick-wearing you’ve got ahead of you come Fall.

Its a love some hate some for me... adore some of the coats and hate others... some look so new and trendy... and some look so dated... im not sure on the use of fur... hardly a modern detailing... looks classic... but like something my grany would wear classic... and she was no audrey hepburn!

the music doesnt fit at all with the medival princes theme & the lion :( if they wanted to do classical if soudnt have been a piano but like a violin or somethin.......... this sounds too modern

The setting is epic and breathtaking...

And the clothes?

They make me think of Russia, and Anna Karenina, and long sweeping journeys on the Trans-Siberian railway.

Though assuredly not my taste and not Lagerfeld's best, there is a beautifully romantic nostalgia - an old-order charm, if you will - to them.

Well, some pieces are terrible, and I'm not liking the shoes. But there are pieces which are just breathtaking. And I love the hair and makeup. The setting is also impressive. But I don't understand the lion-headed Bapitste:lol:.

Chanel models walked the runway at the house's couture show sporting clean skin and cherry-red pouts, courtesy of Chanel lip liner in Carmin, topped with Chanel Rouge Coco lip color in Rivoli.
