Chanel HC F/W 07.08 Paris

this is the experience of han hyejin at the Chanel show :

[FONT=CY73535_10]My goodness! The rain couldn't pour down harder like a cataract. Worse still, my concern that it wouldn't stop until the show was well over was beginning to look justified, and so, alas, the pain of walking on the gravel runway in the tiny, tall high heels was compounded by the heavy rain. Further, the U-shaped runway was way lengthier than the typical platform, and thanks to the rain and the wind, the hem of my dress was covered with muddy water. What's more, the thought that my tight dress was making me look like I was waddling rendered me uneasy and heavy in the chest. However, seeing the unqualified electricity in the audience even through the pouring rain was enough to keep me going with a stiff upper lip.

Mmmm Herr Lagerfeld is wearing white???!!! Interesting, plus feels like he gained some weight and is not looking so deadly skinny... That is probably a new trend in Fashion;-) I would think about it:lol:

this hc couture is alright... i dont really like it...

those weird things on the head of some models... those remind me of history.... like what those 14th century or so european knights used to wear...

it's so easy when you hold all the dice. sometimes i find myself underwhelmed by chanel but it's refreshing each couture week to find a man who actually sets about doing something new in a non-showy way with the best material and techniques in the world. it's amazing that one man can change the way real women actually dress in such an incremental and pointed way. sure, we have some visionaries who put out wild flaming ideas trying to get the moths of fashion to follow, but karl lagerfeld doesn't worry about trend in that way, he designs things which he knows for a fact women will absolutely order, wear, and keep. if i can think up about twenty new york women who want to get their hands on that red suit, i can imagine how many he must think of. and those dresses, he doesn't even need to give them away....

i must say that something's afoot however since i'm sure it's no accident that those sunglasses crept their way onto runway.

and, poor poor karl, with the demise of his own line and now the retreat of his only reason to stay thin, it looks like he's starting to let himself go a bit....

Sorry if this is the wrong spot but I don't know where else to post this comment. I was looking at style file on style.com and they were talking about "kinky boots" in the style hunter section citing this as an example:
boots_2.jpg

Gah! those are not boots but some modified version of spats or stirrup leather legging of some sort. You can clearly see the strap under the shank of the shoe and how the "sleeve" of the "boot" is not connected to the actual shoe which is a simple pump. If you look at them all of the so called "boots" are like this. It just bothered me like they're trying to pull one over on us.
Unless this is actually considered a boot, then you can enlighten me.

^^ I think you're right- that's some sort of Karl Special Leather Legging or something...not a boot at all! I kind of like the whole look of this for this collection, and the last few as well- maybe this will be a new mini skirt accessory for the leggy Chanel woman!! :woot:;)

I think it's cause he doesn't need to be skinny enough to fit in slimane clothes :p

are backstage pic going to appear ever????

Getty has a few, but I miss the usual models backstage ones... I don't remember really seeing too many from the LA Cruise show either...

I think that this collections is absolutely breathtaking...the pieces/colour combination remind me of a modern twist on the costumes in the film Marie Antoinette. And I looooove the skull caps...also seen on the Giorgio Armani runway.
