Chanel Pre-Fall 2011 Paris-Byzance

The Byzantine influence was very nicely done. If you didn't tell me it was pre-fall, I actually would have thought couture!

I predicted from looking at the invitation that it would have some similarities with the latest couture collection, and it looks like I was right. Not complaining though, that was one of my favourites.

Luxurious, regal, and exquisite.

It's all truly gorgeous indeed. I was worried for another gimmick-overload collection from Karl, but I'm glad to see it turned out to be so great!

I love how rich, luxurious and regal it looks! Some nice pieces in this collection.

Damn, this is good. The one item that caught my eye was the tweed jacket/shirt that Freja wore.

OPULENT in capital words.
Why this wasn't the Fall 2010 colection?
And we don't have to see those yetis on iceberg.

Can somebody help me by telling me how you would call this things on their head?

Wow I really love it. I've always been a fan of bohemian influences and this really spot on. The opulence of the jewelry and clothes is so gorgeous and elegant. Far more beautiful then his last fall RTW.

This is really turning out to be a gorgeous collection, and the Byzantine inspiration couldn't be a better fit for Chanel. I love the restrained way that it was used. As opulent as so much of this is it doesn't seem heavy handed at all, and lord knows that's not always the case with a Chanel collection.

I also love the kind of relaxed, bohemian undercurrent that's here. It really keeps the look from feeling dated or gimmicky.
i was trying to translate my impressions into words until i read your post. that's a perfect translation.

this is one of my favourite recent chanel collections - including rtw and couture. it is so satisfying when a designer interprets an inspiration in the best way it could be done. you see the final look and you are amazed, without that feel that there's something missing, or that you are not getting it, or that it's just another collection... the pieces look great together and separately, and the details are fantastic.

chanel used to say that luxury was not in richness or ornateness, but in the abscence of vulgarity, and i think that lagerfeld did an incredible job, using richness and ornateness in favour of a laid-back luxury, a non-stiff refinement.

This is easily one of my favorite Chanel collections. The sandals are just amazing.
