Chicago shopping

No fair I just read the article :( I feel so upset i wish i could have went. I remember when i was downtown not too long ago I ran into one of Ikram's friends. She was wearing comme des garcons it was cool! :D She was nice too :D Oh well...when im a buyer im going to be invited and stuff lol

I would like to ask you who are living in or frequently go to Chicago where to find John Galliano homme. The stores I know which carry Galliano are Barneys and Saks so far in Chicago. If you know additional stores except the above, please let me know. I suddenly feel like buying a long black skinny fringed scarf from S/S2006 and remember that I go to Chiacgo with friends this weekend.

I believe that those are the only stores that carry his line. I know for a fact that Saks Mens Store has it.

Yay im going to Barney's tomorrow! I cant wait to see the windows. I loved it when they had Balenciaga in the windows with broken maniquiens. Too cool!

i'm going to chicago on the 4th of may for a field trip and only have 5 hours to shop on michigan avenue:yuk: where do i have to go?
I want to get this one shirt from armani $32 pretty good for armani but then after that where else should i go?
I'll probably just go to the mall there and shop at A&F

Yes Oh my gosh please do not just come to chicago and settle for shopping at the Watertower Mall on Michigan Avenue and save your money from that Armani shirt..I mean its cool but you can do better in the Windy City
The Magnificent Mile(including Michigan AVE) has far greater stores but they can be alittle pricey. May I suggest checking out 6 floors of active wear at NikeTown..not just blah workout clothes...find all the trendy wear that you can wear in and out of the gym. Also if you are wanting to stick to a budget and want to shop some familiar stores...check out the Marshall Fields in the WaterTower..they have brands from Lacoste to Kenneth Cole to the Penguin collection to FCUK and there are even cooler shirts and jackets than that Armani one for less than the Label price.
If you have extra time go over into the Gold Coast and check out the Barney's New York. Upstairs there is a Barney's CooP for the the younger more hip generation and they ALWAYS have good sales on men's shoes...all kinds...go CHECK IT OUT
Hope this was helpful...:heart::D

are you talking about the HollyWood Mirror on Belmont Ave? I can never find anything in those stores!

Yea you know what JJ you are right..five hours is definitely not enough:rolleyes:

haha i know! i would take the whole day and go into every store. Jate u seem to know the area well...have u ever been into Ikram Chicago? Or Marlowe? Those are really nice stores! :D

So...I'm going back to Chicago sometime this summer, but have a few questions. When are the sales? And do they have sales at the actual boutiques, or at department stores, only?

Um...i would guess most sells are around christmas time and then also around when the fall stuff is coming in and the spring stuff is going out. Yes many boutiques have sales. I know Burberry puts a sign in the window saying sale and Hermes had a sale when i was in there. Everyone has sales! lol

I just think it sounds so funny for a high end boutique to have a sale. It just seems so odd. Of course, who's complaining!? But are the sales in like, July for S/S? It's nice that there were few collections I actually liked this season, it makes it a lot cheaper!

why is it odd? no store gets rid of their stock completely, and when next seasons stuff comes in they need to make room. if buyers bought product for a store just enough so that everything is gone, then the store would look empty and lame, sometimes merchandise is overbought on purpose to keep the store looking well stocked. thats when sale plays a key role. and believe me, even if you buy something at like 40% off, theyre still making a good profit off you.

^^^ Thats true...especially downtown there is a HUGE markup. Rent down there is sooo HIGH its like $50,000 a month and thats for a smaller store.
