SHANGHAI CHINA - JUNE 24: (CHINA OUT) (L-R) Zhao Wei, Chiling Lin, Michelle Lee and YunJin Kim appear at Dior's fashion show "The Grandest Show in Asia" on June 24, 2006 at Shanghai, China. (Photo by Liu Song/ChinaFotoPress/Getty Images)

Being too commercial and everything I like it ... the asian twist is just awesome!

:ermm: It would look more grandest if there were better models... Looks ridiculous to me...

I see they've toned down the pure scariness that was the original Dior fall/winter 06 show -_-

I think that the models and actressess were very beautiful (because I love this type of beauty), but they looked like at some show made ONLY for film stars- it's very pupular in Poland, so when the star walks down the runway, she doesn't look very proffesional- she's smiling, she walks in her way, and quite slowly... so the mood is different than at a real show!

(but that red dress on the third pic looks awesome!)

Be careful with your words. You are allowed to make comments not insults. Anyway, this show is done by Dior for Greater China, including Hongkong, Taiwan, and maybe even for the entire Asia. This year they just happened to choose Shanghai as the location for this show. Therefore if we are bumpkins, so are you guys from Hongkong, Taiwan. The press from the entire Greater China came to this show, and they also invited four major movies stars for publicity, Zhao Wei (mainland), Michele Reis (HK), Lin Zhilin (Taiwan, don't know what's the correct spelling of her English name), and also a famous Korean movie star. Therefore, we are on the same boat.:innocent:

I don't like this show either. AT least not from the pictures I have seen so far. Anyway, something we should keep in mind, this kind of shows done in Asia are always commercial activities, and done for the only purpose of publicity. Too many "cheap" Asian celebrities who know nothing about good fashion flock to this kind of show. They care about the after-show party and being seen, much more than the fashion show itself.:yuk:

Hmm ... I guess it's less of the clothes but probably the lack of experience the organisers of this show are likely to have in putting up a good fashion show. As mentioned before, this is not a fashion show for the sake of fashion but rather a "PR-smart move" (to quote my friend) as well as something of a social event. Hence you see less of the theatrics that dominate the Paris runways and more of the celebrities that position themselves on the red carpet and in the fronts rows for the cameras.

On the other hand, it's nice to see the clothes properly for once without all the dazzling red lights (which often masquerade the real colours and features of the clothes). Sans the theatrics, for us fashion-maniacs here on TFS it's a great chance to get to the raw essence of a fashion show - the clothes.

But I'm still trying to ignore the fact that I thought it was someone in drag when I saw the first picture in JR1's second post
