Christian Dior Haute Couture F/W 2023.24 Paris

By contrast, Ferré's job was to re-energise the house to suit the modernised business model. While his collections did well commercially, the re-energising project failed as his aesthetic, that was deeply anchored in the eighties, became irrelevant in the nineties.
Wasn't that the case with most designers in the first half of 90s ? Aesthetic is one thing but the overall approach to design was still very traditional or even conservative. John had it much easier. The industry was changing and creatives could push boundaries. Do what was unthinkable for their predecessors.

I should've precised that, but I wasn't quite sure on how to word it.

Cut by gods, sewn by angels.

Exquisitely gentle clothes. The series of white tailleurs are faultless. The plissé dresses look weightless. Some of the techniques are just incredible yet so quiet in their execution.

These are clothes that are respectful of a woman and allow for graceful freedom, to be enjoyed by her, cherished.

No cumbersome drag here.

Outstanding.

PS Very, very smart as a lot of these would make perfect wedding dresses.

yea theres no question this is some of the finest construction Haute Couture ever made. Diors Atelier is the best in the world (post Karl)

i personally see the feminine freedom you mention but from a rigid Italian- Catholic POV. Its distinctly Western Feminine Rebellion. Its very passe since some women find freedom in maybe more traditional feminity.

maria is wrong for dior because of this sort of anti Lily of the Valley energy she has. Dior is supposed to be a precious woman who is literally cared for all day. Marias idea of a Dior woman is that same Billionaire (this is HC) is like going skateboarding judging by some of the looks.

overall her clothes are passe poltical pastiche of nothing sentiments about Feminism and Womanhood we already did in 1972. Women wearing pants is not revolutionary in 2023.

yes the clothes are beautifully made. Glad when she leaves.

THANK YOU

FINALLY someone sees what I see.

:heartwarrow:

But let it be someone saying that for Virginie the whole forum will be in an uproar whew

i'll be glad to see the back of this harridan upon her imminent departure. what a joyless parade of merchandise. all the credit goes to les petites mains for their technical mastery and savoir-faire - some of the techniques used here are truly wonderful. chiuri's design vocabulary, however, is the one pitiful thing holding the maison back creatively.

quite boring but beautifully cut clothes

I'm going to say that word for word for Vaginal's next Couture collection solely for trolling purposes.

The making-of the collection:

"I was born in Rome, so I was influenced by Greco-Roman culture" once again. No one cares where you were born, it is not your own brand. But what's the problem to be inspired by rich french culture, since you are working for a french brand
