Christian Dior Haute Couture S/S 2022 Paris

got it.

Basically a curvier look like this?Christian Dior Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show
Thank you for explaining
I have the look 46 tailleur. But as you see in the collection, there are even curvier versions of the bar jacket.

It’s funny, I hated Raf’s time at Dior but I loved the shoes, the bags and the tailoring. It was exquisite. Galliano had that ability to make dream but some of the things made under Raf’s tenure were really timeless classics.

But back to the bar jacket, I must say that maybe the only issue I have with it, compared to a Chanel tweed jacket, it’s that it’s not versatile enough. You can’t dress down, wear the jacket open. It’s not a casual look. It’s very much business or evening…

I think you can wear it open with light colored jeans+heels, no?

The effect is not really the best open because the « bar » construction is all around the jacket and it’s a double breasted 2 buttons. The runway version had some kind of ruffles in the back but I have the commercial version…

When you compare to the Balenciaga hourglass jacket for example, the Balenciaga is much more versatile because it’s single breasted jacket with a straight cut in the back so you can wear it open…

But back to Dior, when you wear a bar Jacket like that, you have to wear heels. That alone is not dressing down. IMO it’s really the kind of piece aimed for sophistication. You can’t wear this with some sneakers, a simple pant and a cashmere sweater.

Excellent point. Yes, I always wear heels with mine...

The Bar jacket is very formal and difficult to dress down. Imho it's a very conservative look, that could easily becomes quite aging. It's also a day-time outfit, at night YSL Smoking jackets, Chanel, Balmain blazers or spencers are much more versatile imho.
Dior has not find the recipe for good evening jackets.
