His work in the 80’s was obviously his claim to fame - but it’s his work in the 2000’s that truly shines. He really hit a creative stride at that point…his work became so light and so magical. Those 2000’s Couture collections will always inspire. The work of a true master.

These suits are just so lazy, cynical and incapable of understanding the foundation of a label, they just want to restore hits from the past, sit back and cash in.

Just let the man create stuff for Air France and the ballet. Those gigs have way more prestige for a legend like him than anything in fashion right now.

To be fair, given the house's lack of commercial success over the decades (I'm pretty sure they never turned a profit), I think they'll have to put quite a lot of effort in to make it succeed - not so much "sit back and cash in".

And Christian Lacroix himself has stated that he will not be involved in the new company.

How ironic I was looking at some couches and it was under the Christian Lacroix license.

What is the point of buying the brand.
I think Lacroix is even more difficult to do than Ungaro for example.

And Lacroix sold all his archives right when he closed the house in 2009.

The RTW was never successful.
Unless they do a Balmain, I don’t see the point.

A new LaCroix wouldn't have to look anything like the work of Christian himsel. New buyers won't care because none of them will know or care to know what the house used to be capable of. Its new owners just need the name. It's their golden ticket to PFW, magazine editorials and new clients. That's what buyers care about. Clout.

We've seen this before. The back catalog is irrelevant. Any new collections they make that remotely resemble Christian's work will just be a distant bastardized version of it, that appropriates his 'signature' elements and discard the rest.
