^EXACTLY! Or she could have, you know, released a ballad song, which in itself is completely different from what the current trend is.

She did a radio interview a month ago regarding this issue and all she said was in the lines of "I've been around for over a decade and my work can definitely attest to that." Sorry Christina, but just because you've been around for a long time doesn't mean you're free from criticism of "copying". Hell, she could just have easily said she was inspired, but nope she didn't.

I feel bad for her actually, only because she's so talented and yet she is always over shadowed by someone else who isn't exactly as talented as she is. Like back then with Britney and now with Lady Gaga.

This single has been out for 2 weeks now, and well.... let's just say it's not doing well in the charts. It's not even in the Top 10. Hopefully this MV will improve that ranking.

I think a power ballad would have seem too obvious though like "oh my gosh here's Christina..with another ballad." Maybe she'll do that for her second single or third but I'm glad she changed it up a bit for her comeback.

The video is so try hard. It's like damn we get it Christina you are comfortable with your sexuality. Yay You! Now stop acting so desperate.

I had a feeling when listening to her latest interviews that she was definitely going to push forward with the 'I'm a Mom but I am still sexy' route but geez louise I didn't expect her to take it to such a level where as a fan since GIAB I kinda felt embarrassed for her.

Anyways, on the plus side I did like many of the various looks and though I do not care for NMT's song or video I will remain optimistic and hope that her next release in all forms is better. ^_^

Why can't she do a sexual video? God, she has the body to show off in a video like that, and with her voice, she can command that attention to her.
It just really annoys me how you can all complain about Christina doing something like this, and yet every time I waltz onto Gaga's thread, she is being praised and loved for the things she does both in her videos, on stage and off. I've noticed Rihanna be criticised for her style and "hard" attitude in videos - once again compared to Gaga.
I don't understand why she is so immune to the 'negativity' on here. You can all feel free to hate me, but I'm just stating the truth - you complain about those who have been in the music industry for so long and have affected most of you probably since your childhood. Gaga has been around, two years? In the limelight, and she is treated like the most amazing being on earth.

^Actually, no. Gaga is probably getting the most both negative and positive criticisms for the mere fact that she is who she is at the moment. I mean, there's a thread about Grace Jones disliking her, and that tops the list there for me.

Just because you've been in the business for so long doesn't excuse you from comparisons. And let's face it, Christina herself isn't the most "original" artist either. Don't even want to get into the whole "original" thing either....

No one's really saying she shouldn't have done a sexy video. It's just people were first disappointed by the single, which is doing horrible in the charts by the way, and then disappointed by the video by the mere fact that it blatantly resembles too many other music videos made before it.

In this case, it's more like, if Gaga is getting the heat, why can't a veteran also get the heat? It would be unfair to simply brush criticisms off from Christina just because she's been around. I mean, we all know Britney still gets criticized, so that reasoning is kinda weird to me.

It's not about Christina doing a sexy video- I don't find NMT sexy but I digress. It's about how she goes about it. The video is a desperate cry for attention. As a Christina fan and just a fan of artists in general I like to see growth not them regressing.

The thing about Gaga is that she wouldn't do a video like this. Even her most controversial moments have not come off as desperate and even more so, 9 times out of 10 when Gaga does do something there is a point behind it. What's the point of NMT? Aside from Christina's outcry to have people think she's edgy and kinky? It's just not needed.

Christina has been around longer than Gaga but that doesn't mean that she should avoid any negative comments. Especially when she brings them forth herself. She's been in the game for a little bit over a decade but most of that time she's been on a hiatus and when she does come back it's with a new image that overrides the music.

Gaga and Christina both have their set of delusional Stans, yet it's usually the Christina ones who are always comparing her to what Gaga does. It's like just focus on Christina and what she has to offer. She said her career speaks for itself when asked recently about the Gaga comparisons...so let it.

I love me some sl*tty X-Tina :woot: I think the video is HOT!!!!! Don't like the song at all, but who cares, I'll get the new album anyway. I love her

the video is....meh..it's too dirty and i dont find it cool at all...
this is so madonna in the bedtime stories era...

Though I don't mind the video, I'm just over the over-the-top sexy videos these days... ... I prefer something a bit more subdued...

The similarities were just too obvious for me. Whether she was trying to emphasize the 'not herself tonight' thingy or else, i just think it didn't work.

Christina is sex!! And this video is hot.
I still think she did it on purpose as being ironic with all the stupid comparisons she's been got since lady gaga stepped to the scene.
I just find it weird she recorded this single two week before the release.
And since the list of collaborators are really impressive, I don't think this was the first plan in mind. It's just to make people talk and joke about all the people she's been compared to.
She's not a moron, she knows what she's doing.
I will always love this girl.
In my opinion, she's the only one pop star right now lasting another decade or more.

It's funny, but she's one of the people that got me into fashion. tacky I know, but there was just something in her stripped looks that got me.

Just wanted to quote some lyrics from one of her songs off the Back To Basics album, to those of you, who are having such a problem with her expressing her sexuality in this video.

"If I want to wear lingerie outside of my clothes
If I want to be erotic in my own videos
If I want to be provocative, well that ain't a sin
Maybe you're not comfortable in your own skin"

The entire song "Still Dirrty" actually has a lot of relevant verses to every thing you are all complaining about. Just because she is a mum now, doesn't mean she has to lose her sex appeal, she is still very young - she has the perfect voice for a ballad, but I wouldn't have liked it as a comeback song, she needed something more out there and in your face, which is what that video is.

^lol you seem to be maybe taking this a bit too seriously, people have a right to voice their opinion even if it differs from yours. particularly because this is a style discussion thread...

posting lyrics suggesting that christina is the bomb and everyone else is just insecure isn't going to change anyone's opinion.

I agree, Anck_Su_Namun_x, you are being a bit defensive here, people don't have "such a problem...", it's just their opinion :flower:

I'm not going to start making comparisons to Lady Gaga and Madonna, but plenty of people are (not just here), and I did hope she would channel her own distinct look as she has done so many times before.

She has always been amazing at reinventing herself, and I know Madonna and Lady Gaga don't have full ownership of this look, and I don't have a problem with her expressing her sexuality at all (she's a total bombshell), but for a comeback it lacks a real identity, and whether the similarities are accidental or deliberate, I think whatever statement she is trying to make is weakened as a result.

^ I love the grey top she is wearing, well what I can see of it anyway; and Max looks so adorable, can't believe how much he has grown.

Wow, that video is HOT. Who cares if she borrowed a concept? Everything has already been done before. I'm over caring about originality with pop stars. The whole idea is just laughable. As far as I'm concerned, whoever does it best wins ha.

i wish she'd stop wearing that red lipstick, she looks so much younger and prettier when her makeup is more natural. i love the new video though

I just noticed the girl on the video that's strapped to the chair is Jenna Dewan.
