I can't watch the video, but everyone seems to agree that she's completely jacking Gaga's "Bad Romance" and parts of Madonna's "express yourself" as awell.

After she came out slamming all Gaga comparisons, I had thought that she'd do her own thing like she did in the beginning...

I'm not about to start making comparisons, Lady Gaga isn't the first person to dress like this, and won't be the last, but I do question the wisdom of styling Christina like this when Lady Gaga is still such a big deal. People will make the comparison - I think she really needed her own identity for her comeback.

I think it's pretty brilliant. The song is called Not Myself Tonight, and that's being reflected in the video obviously. You have people making a big stink over her clearly borrowing elements from Express Yourself, Bad Romance and even Human Nature. But that's the point. She's "not herself", that's what the video is about. She's doing it purposely. Christina knows what she's doing, I bet she's sitting back laughing. This video will be popular because of this "controversy" she "created" by "borrowing" from other videos.

honestly...the song is unremarkable and definitely not fits christina vocal.and the video is just a un-necessary rip.off..kinda sad that one of the few artist that actually has a voice and can sing,has to do this kind of cheesy thing to get some kind of attention..

I could see the references with Madonna's Express Yourself when she is standing at the top of the stairs, in that suit and with the monacle, but I have the feeling that was the whole point, to re-create that.
I don't understand why people are making such a big deal out of this whole Christina/Gaga thing - is no one else allowed to be risque and provocative in their videos anymore, just because Gaga is in the limelight?

It's the trend now, I've noticed a lot of artists come out with these types of videos - not every single one of them is copying Gaga

Anyway, I thought the video was brilliant. She looked breath taking - love you Christina! <33

I've finally seen the video and I've gotta say: The stills I posted are clearly misleading.

The video is much more Madonna than Gaga, but it feels like it's on purpose. More like a hommage than just copying it.

Don't really like song or video, but it's not the rip-off everyone wants it to be.

I probably just bought into the hype and hoopla everyone (esp. PH) made about it. On that note, Perez has become more obnoxious than ever with his Gaga obsession. Everytime someone speaks out against Gaga or is even just indifferent towards her, they automatically land on Perez' sh*t-list.

I find the video erotic & beautiful. Forget "copying" whoever. NO ONE is "original". There are ALWAYS influences. I love Madonna, I love Gaga and I love Christina. None of them INVENTED latex or sexy. All 3 do it well. All 3 are genius.

I love Lady Gaga, but this is more Madonna than Gaga.

This is dirtier than back when she was doing "Dirty". Except this time it's a more expensive lesbian-esque version and no body paint.... wait, there's body paint.

At the very least, her body is amazing! I hope she has a lot of powerful ballads to make up for this lackluster song, but the video is cool in itself and will probably attract attention.

With an industry filled with Swifts and Biebers, thank God there's the Gagas and the Christinas who are willing to push forward away from that. Now all we need is a Britney come back and the trinity will be complete since Madonna is in hiatus.

You know, I'm really happy that "sense of fashion" is coming back into the music videos via this video and Lady Gaga's. Whatever that means....

Btw, nice Carrera sunglasses Christina. Haha.

Can we please stop with all the Gaga comparisons now? This only ever started because we had two women in the music industry with platinum blonde hair and ehem, Gaga's is not even real ¬_¬ but what I can believe is there are some people already bashing what happens to be an amazing video - maybe I am a bit biast on this thread because I adore Christina, but I don't care, I would defend her over anything.

wow she is taking a beating from the critics right now with that video
whether you like the video or not, you cant deny the heavy influence from a few specific female artists.
for me personally, the similarities were so blatant they overshadowed her potential at a successful come-back single. (this is coming from someone who was excited about her new material).
perhaps she was pressured by her label to put out the "sexiest" song and match it with an over the top video. record labels pay attention to what sells, and right now it's lady gaga-rihanna-beyonce-madonna style leather bras and writhing around on the floor.

christina could have done something completely innovative with this album promotion. maybe less "sex sells" appeal and more intellectually provocative. yes, she would have alienated some of her fans, particularly the young kids, but it would have opened the door for a new fanbase, and elevated the potential for pop artists. i dont want to namedrop again, but case in point: the new mia video "born free". m.i.a is nowhere to be found in the video, and yet we are left stunned and moved by her message.

christina doesnt seem to want to deliver any message other than, "look at me...i'm back....i'm still hot...."

just an opinion.
