Claire Danes can now call herself a Gucci girl.
Today, the 29-year old actress was announced as the face of the upcoming Gucci fine jewelry campaign. Danes replaces Drew Barrymore, who fronted the luxury brand’s fine jewelry line from 2007 to 2008 as its first celebrity ad campaign face. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin return as photographers for the campaign, which will debut in fall fashion books.
“Claire Danes is a modern icon,” stated Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, who was directly involved with the shoot. “For me she is one of the most interesting young actresses on the international scene. She is very natural, fresh, and has a carefree attitude which can also be seen in the roles she has chosen. Claire’s sensual, confident beauty and her passionate, independent and strong character embodies today’s Gucci woman.” For her part, Danes added, “I am thrilled and honored to be working with Gucci on their jewelry campaign. Frida is a very inspiring and creative woman. Her vision is extraordinary and I am excited to be a part of it.”
Danes has recently received critical acclaim for her Broadway debut in Pygmalion. She will next be seen starring in Richard Linklater’s upcoming film, Me and Orson Welles.
