thanks a lot for the screencaps, dead dancefloor."it" is such an enchanting little film, and miss bow is simply adorable.she was the ultimate flapper, but also a lot more than that:she was a great actress.unfortunately she got typecasted by directors and seldomly got the chance to show her great talent (like in calll her savage).what a waste....
the pics i´m going to post are scans i made from a french movie magazine called "le film" from dec 1928.clara was on the cover and there´s also a long article about her inside and a lot of pics.
poor clara seems to get a bit neglected here.time to do something about it!
that´s clara on the cover of "novella" an italian magazine from march 1933.the caption under the pic says:"at hollywood the fascination for thin actresses has also decreased : perhaps that´s the secret behind clara bow´s new success."
the magazine is so huge that it didn´t wholly fit into my scanner .therefore i´ll post two versions....
while the novella-cover shows clara pretty much at the end of her film carreer, the third scan i´m posting is right from the beginning of her carreer not long after she had won the fame and fortune contest.its from motion pciture classic sept. 1922
oh almost forgot this thread...looking at these pictures my heart dances charleston.thanks lucy!!!!the fourth pic of post 28 is very unusual-her hairdo,make-up...she looks just like a doll left in the corner of a past childhood.i used to have an avatar from the picture below which stems from the same photoshoot as pic nr.8 in post 29.
