Wow, that is definitely a huge risk from Carine about tapping Saskia de Brauw to be on the cover of her last issue as EIC because honestly, I was expecting she would pick Kate Moss. I think it's a little bit safe to say now that Saskia has finally gotten her golden ticket to the world of high fashion by getting this huge chance.

I think she can afford risks. Besides, though it would have been fun with an Addict inspired Kate cover (oh how impossible those ads would have been back in 2006) it seems more fun to propell someone new.

Though I have to say I'm not sure just how good Saskia is. She's like a mix between Freja and Stella Tennant, but stronger in her presence than the two of them together.

There was big excitement and thoughts when newcomer Rose Cordero got last year's March cover, many posts about her becoming a star after this but I don't remember seeing her even in VP after it, not to talk about other magazines.

And now when it's a last issue of Carine, Saskia can be considered as her new favorite, but Carine can't make decisions anymore about VP, we don't know if we'll ever see Saskia in VP under new editor, if Emannuelle likes her. Honestly, I don't care about her but sometimes we are too much excited about things, it's just my opinion, though.

I don't think that when Carine leaves the Lara and all of her favourites covers are over. Those are really wanted models (Lara, Natasha, Daria, Raquel).

Carine certainly like the Dutch: Lara, Daphne then Lara and now Saskia. Í'm not a fan of Saskia's look but I'm quite excited though.

things not always go according to one same formula. if at 29 she still got it then im sure the industry would welcome that. old school models are doing exceptionally well this season eg, stella(isnt she 39), malgosia bela, karen, etc.

lara and raquel were not at the peak of their career b4 the age of 25. this is the industry where anythign can happen. even at the age of 29, saskia looks damn young for her age.

It seems that you haven't seen a single US Vogue issue from the last 12 months, because Anna has been using a lot of new girls in US Vogue.

I'm really excited by Saskia's VP cover.

No Im talking about single editorial shots or headlining promising girls and not lumping them into a huge group eds, other than Arizona and Karlie ? not so much.

Well Carine's surprised us with another shocker for March. She's really into new faces for March issues of Vogue Paris with Iris, Rose and now Saskia. Not that I'm complaining, because Carine and team never fail to impress. I'm optimistic about the content too, I hope for something controversial and the Vogue Paris favourites.

Saksia looks like the usual type of model featured on and in French Vogue...sexy with an edge. Someone different, but essentially the same type of girl. Hopefully it's a strong finish for Carine.
