Cover Rumor Thread

We'll speculate while we wait, and it'll turn out to be someone random that we never thought of, like Mabel or a model like Jourdan/Imaan/Nora.

Will the 'wedding' theme of the issue extend to the cover?

Not sure Florence is very relevant in 2022

She has a new album out and all the videos are directed by Autumn De Wilde. I think she's quite relevant. Anna is also a huge fan of her personally apparently, so im sure she wouldn't be opposed to Edward suggesting her for a cover.

she may not be rihanna but she's currently promotong dance fever and just started her tour, she's a gucci ambassador and the face of gucci bloom which has helped her land covers on elle russia and glamour spain and an interview in Elle México

It could be Florence, Sienna, maybe Lizzo (or maybe she'll get one nearer her album?), a model would be great... but UK Vogue has had a lot of model covers already this year, so I think it'll be a celeb. Could also be Harry - might work out nicely for him now that his album has leaked early... maybe the label will decide to drop the record tomorrow knowing it's already online and that his cover is out this week?

Kind of hope it's someone surprising though, I can't really think of anyone else obvious who might show up now that Rihanna's on US Vogue.

Why?
She's not interesting, and not even that

Just tired seeing Serena as the only tennis player getting Vogue covers, and also Emma is the most succesful British tennis player right now, and sponsored by Dior and Tiffany and Co.

i don't think being interesting is a must for Vogue coverstars nowadays, just look at this month cover...and for me she is cute, so why not?

If Emma Raducanu gets a cover, it'll be to appease her sponsors, rather than to reflect her continued sporting triumphs. Something to coincide with Wimbledon might be nice, but the focus would have to be on something more than just tennis, in case she goes out in the first or second round.

An interview about the mental health aspects of suddenly being elevated onto the world stage would be the type of article magazines like to run, but people might not be interested in hearing about the woes of a teenage multi-millionaire who is not living up to everyone else's expectations, but is still 'set for life'.

I find the whole thing rather sad. She wins one high-profile tournament during covid times, and everyone rushes in to claim a piece of her, before she's had time to work her way towards being her best on a continued basis.

I remember Boris Becker winning Wimbledon at the age of 17, but he went on to be Boris Becker. Not everyone can.

It does seem strange in retrospect, because Maria was everything magazines loved at the time - tall, blonde, and at the top of her game. Despite being less successful, Anna Kournikova appeared on more covers, but perhaps the business plan was very different.

Jennifer Lopez has a documentary premiering on Netflix in June, I hope she's in some editor's crosshairs!

I'll always mention this because it's just so silly that Sharapova never got a Vogue cover (and I mean any besides Teen Vogue, not just one of the big 4)

Utterly bizarre, and not even Vogue Russia.
She ticks all the boxes, in terms of accomplishments, and actually looks like a supermodel.
I'll go to my grave believing Anna blacklisted her, in favor of her fav Serena.
