DUNN MAKING HISTORY

ALREADY one of the most in-demand models on the global fashion circuit, Storm girl Jourdan Dunn is about to make history - as part of a groundbreaking issue of Vogue Italia, which will feature only non-white models.

An industry source has confirmed to VOGUE.COM that the whisperers are accurate and that Steven Meisel has indeed shot an entire issue featuring black models, in a bid to encourage other magazines to diversify.

Naomi Campbell has always been outspoken about racism in fashion and 17-year-old Dunn, who was famously scouted in the Hammersmith branch of Primark in London, recently added her voice to the debate.

"London's not a white city so why should all our castings be white? I go to castings and see several black and Asian girls, then I get to the show and look around and there's just me and maybe one other coloured face," she told the Evening Standard. "They just don't get picked. I hope it's because the designer just didn't think they were good enough as a model but I don't know." (April 25 2008, AM)

I think so too. Jourdan is new to me, I just checked her and she's gorgeous! I hope she will be big! And great for Chanel! I like them both but I don't see how they'll complement each other, Jourdan looks more mature, Chanel is more of a teen.

The shoot is taking place this coming Monday according to COACD so I think it'll be for the July issue..

It's strange that the info regarding this all-black issue got out this quickly (before the photo shoots have even taken place)....i guess that someone out there just couldn't keep it to themselves
