Cover Rumor Thread

Many thanks (once again) tigerouge for bestowing these cover previews upon us! :king:

Five minutes ago I hadn't a clue who Claire Foy was, until I've just had to Google search her. The first cover is giving me major Tamara de Lempicka vibes - much prefer the first to the second.

These two are pretty gorgeous, if you ask me. The first one is a bit too bourgeoisie but much more impactful than the second.

The first one is gorgeous. Very beautiful.

The second one is questionable. Like why? Better than any one of Alexandra's recent covers.

I like how they let you choose for two covers when there's clearly a winner.. it's very leading.

That "Being a Woman in Trump's America" seems like an interesting read no?

Although, will they still do the same market research for Edward's first cover? And how come October and November got sent out but September was really quiet?

Maybe they figured September sells itself due to its size, but they want input on how to make the issues around it (eg Aug and now Oct and Nov) seem more appealing to potential readers.

Do you really all prefer the first cover? I don't like that one at all, but I think the second one is totally charming.

I'm a huge fan of Foy & I love The Crown, but my god they've managed to make her look 10+ years older in both covers!

The second cover is so much better, i love seeing a full lenght cover, and it's interesting to see unairbrushed test covers.

I like the second image personally and am delighted to see her land the cover. The cast had a feature for the first season, so it's nice to see her brought to the cover for its second. I think she's genuinely brilliant in The Crown.

I think both are pretty, but the 2nd one is definitely my favourite because it's very unlike Alexandra. Hopefully they'll go with both. This will be such a great triumph for Claire Foy!

Thanks for sharing with us Tigerrouge, I love being able to see the different options!

There's been a couple of times now (last year's documentary with Kate's cover, Amber's July cover and now this) where they've sent out a very classic cover shot, the obviously commercial viable choice, with a bad attempt at a more interesting cover.

The full length is beautiful but it's not a cover image. I'm sure there will have been a shot from that set where she at least makes eye contact. It's like they just want to stroke their own egos and prove themselves right by pitting an expected, traditional choice against any old image with the Vogue logo plonked on top. More often than not I bet their average reader would pick the safer of the two, Vogue UK has newsstand success for a reason: they know what will sell.

It's really a self-fulfilling prophecy - give the reader an option with exactly what they want and an option that is a poor attempt at something different...I wonder which one the readers will choose? (sarcasm intended)

That tactic has worked here, at least it has on me: I much prefer Option 1 and while I do think that Option 1 is a beautiful cover, if they'd put together a better version of Option 2 then that would have been my pick. Who knows which one they'll go with, at this point I don't really care I just can't wait to see the new team's vision.

Late last time they released both of Amber's covers... which I don't get why people voted for the seat cover. So maybe both would be released

Again? It's not even like her one earlier this year was all that special to begin with.
