Cover Rumor Thread

Naomi better not show up on a throwaway month like January! I am not a big fan, but she would be perfect for a big March cover story!

But where in the world is Taylor Swift? Even less of a fan, but i recognize her success, and her album is breaking records! Happy not to see her on the covers, but feel like it's an ambush waiting to happen, and we will have a rain of TS covers soon. :ninja:

Ha. To be fair, she’s not even done a TV appearance in support of the album other than SNL has she? Nothing here in the UK. To me her absence from covers either means Vogue is coming or I can Elle attempting their global blanket cover thing with her. Or maybe she really has decided to take an entirely different tact and stay away from that sort of exposure?

It's strange because with the last album she already had a bag full of covers just as it was released.

Interestingly enough, Mert and Marcus shot her album cover. Just saying.....

Gisele is not on Vogue Brazil December.

You're joking! Major letdown, as I was holding out for this since the vast majority of the December covers have been incredibly underwhelming!

I think Taylor is pulling off a Beyoncé. She only did SNL and one performance on Jimmy Fallon that was dedicated to his mother, who sadly passed away a week before that. Taylor didn't stay for an interview.

I think she is going to get one major cover in 2018 - perhaps Vogue, and an indie one to project that she's a serious artist. Probably a Grammy performance to top it all off and nothing big in-between.

Inez & Vinoodh shot for Vogue Paris yesterday in NYC at The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel. Emmanuelle Alt was also there. Lucinda Agar tagged Anna Ewers and Anna also commented. Might be another cover.

It sounds like Anna will get February yet again. As I mentioned in another thread, her February 2017 cover sold the most until June/July. I cannot quite justify why she's such a good seller in France.

Where are you getting those numbers from? Not doubting their veracity - but just curious. Also, is there a site to get the numbers for US Vogue and other magazines, as well?

You're Canadian, so the French shouldn't be too difficult for you. :pink:

Re US Vogue, you won't see their figures broken down like this for public view. Like many other magazines they submit their circulation data to a third party auditor. You would need to be a media outlet and paid subscriber before accessing their sales. That's why media sites such as WWD are the only ones reporting on how good or bad Vogue is selling.

US Vogue does publish their sales figures at the back of the magazine, in a tiny box you wouldn't notice unless you were someone who looks at every inch of the magazine in your hands, even the boring credits pages. This might be a once-a-year thing, but it's always appeared for as long as I've been buying US magazines.

The general gist of UK ABCs can be accessed via Media Guardian.

Another way to access such figures is to request a press pack, which is what they give you if you're going to advertise. What promises are being made about the return of your ad money? What reach? What demographics?

But even 'independent' audits can be manipulated by bending the definition of 'sales figures' which often seem to include how many copies have been given away or sent out free to a certain sort of person.

Cool! Thanks Benn :)

So bored of Anna on Vogue Paris. Give someone else a chance - like Imaan for example

Fulvia Farolfi also on set with Vogue Paris. She posted a backstage pic with model Madison Headrick. Maybe no Anna then.

Alt's circle of models is so small. It's always the same girls. Anna, Luna, Rianne.. both for covers and eds.. come on now!

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I've only just seen it. It's even in US Esquire (I'm not a regular reader, only bough it because of Bryan Cranston!) I'm sure it's an US legislation because we don't have it with UK glossies.

I will add that the data provided for (or by) VP seems more detailed. It's a month by month assessment as opposed to the periodical style the US editions do.

UK Tatler Jan 18 is Jonah Hauer-King and Maya Hawke, Uma Thurman's daughter, but you wouldn't know, looks nothing like her on the cover, although the shots inside show more of a resemblance around the eyes. Flicking through for news of next Vogue... nah, but there is a Rifat Ozbek interview. There's a shot of him dressed up as Diana Vreeland, taken in 1983.
