Cover Rumor Thread

^ So no Naomi(e)'s, kinda makes me hopeful it's not Gaga on March US, either! ^_^

I suppose it will be interesting to see if she does sell. It could entirely depend on the image itself. All we need is for her to get some horrid cover leering over the shoulder of Jourdann or something and it definitely won’t sell.

I’m still utterly bemused how that image made t to the cover.

I will never get over the fact Edward did this for his third cover, it's seriously shocking, and shameful!

Any idea on US Vogue February 2018?

Natalie Portman has a Feb 2018 movie release

Lupita was a bit of a surprise because I expected a new face. Perhaps Feb will be someone new? One of the Marvel people?

Would be nice if the Gaga rumour is also inaccurate.

what is she promoting?

Gaga could be promoting her new Vegas recidency or her movie A Star is Born. I don’t mind anyone as long as it’s not Dakota Johnson again

Honestly dont know, but the movie is only slated for release in October. Doubt she'll get a cover just because of a Vegas residency. Which makes that rumour less probable.

I'm pretty sure Rihanna will most likely get a cover as part of her co chair deal. She'd have made sure of that.

Oh my God, if Dakota gets a third February cover I will drink poison.

Gaga Vegas residency? Gosh, are things that bad?

Hahahaha, I know, right? It's the type of pop star equivalent of actors lending their faces to dubious advertising in Asia.
Rihanna's slot is reserved, I'll give her 2-3 more years tops.

I think, in fairness to the stars, now streaming is how we are all consuming music it's becoming tougher to earn the money they once would have from just putting music out there. I imagine the lure of a guaranteed (and large) income for an extended period of time is preferable! Is it really much different from doing a large-scale tour? At least they haven't got to actually move about all over the world!

True! I read somewhere that part of the reason Celine Dion and Mariah Carey's wealth will always surpass that of the more modern pop stars is because they actually got full album sales whereas nowadays we stream.
So I can to some extent get why many modern pop stars hustle so much with the fashion industry. Selena Gomez probably made more money from Coach and LV than she did from music sales.

Are you actually saying Rihanna will be in Vegas in 2-3 years? I'm indifferent to her so I don't follow her closely. But I do read WWD, which covered her makeup line launch, one of the biggest launches in the past few years. Not to mention the incredibly successful Fenty X Puma collaboration (isn't that collab a couple years old already? And I haven't heard anything saying that collab is ending soon). There was also her Chopard line, her perfume and her Dior contract. Rihanna has diversified her income generating streams in a pretty high profile way over the past few years.

I seriously doubt she's going to be so hard up for cash (or relevancy) that she'll be signing on to do a Vegas residency in the next 2-3 years. Or 5. Or even 10.

You really do undermine your credibility as someone who tries to speak with authority on tfs when you make posts like this.

Vegas residency’s are no longer the final stop in a singers career. Gaga’s expected to earn more than 100M from her Joanne tour, which spans less than a year. She’s doing 75 shows in Vegas, in the span of 2 years so she can pursue other projects. Even Bruno Mars who had one of the highest grossing tours last year has signed a similar Vegas deal. I will not be surprised if other successful artists choose to do so too.

Could be a new thing...

Rihanna has been around longer and was/is definitely more successful in any of her endevours... Gaga sadly feels like something of passé...

Re-streaming, it worked well for some starts including Rihanna whose been surpressing Madonna’s records... okay Madonna was only allowed to chart her official singles and in a way he achievements are more significant but Rihanna did incredibly well with streaming... plus they don’t have to worry so much about the quality of their albums 3-5 good singles and they are done.

I think Gaga's health issues (Lupus/fibromyalgia) make a Vegas residency more appealing than a global tour. She's constantly having to postpone shows due to health issues. Flights to and hotels in Vegas are inexpensive as hell. I think it works better for her and her fans. I'd love to see her on a cover but then again after a few months in a row of Vogue cover stars who already have multiple covers, it might be nice to see someone new.

Please, Rihanna will do anything for the cash. If someone offers her a big enough check she’ll be sparkling in Vegas in no time.

Younger celebrities have spent the last decade or so watching Jennifer Lopez diversify herself into a level of fame and fortune that shows no signs of going away (and some would say, is entirely unrelated to her level of talent in any particular field).

Where she’s been, they all follow, whether that’s a Vegas residency, a range of perfumes, movie roles, a string of chart singles, or collaborations on clothing and footwear. The only spin each new celebrity brings to the formula is how cheesy or cool they can make their commercial empires seem to be.

Anyhow, Pyper America Smith is on the cover of the Feb 18 Hello! Fashion Monthly.

Britney was definitely the first semi-relevant singer to do a Vegas residency way before J.Lo in 2013. I'm a fan of J.Lo in general, but she's first and foremost an actress - that's how she started, and parlayed that into a successful singing career that has ultimately eclipsed her acting career. She's a trailblazer for sure, but i'm not sure that younger performers follow her in the same way they follow a Beyonce or a Madonna level star.
