Cover Rumor Thread

^ She would and she did, the rumor is that she not only passed on Vogue, but on Vogue's March cover. Also Emma Stone was approached to be on February cover, and passed it so she could do Edward's Vogue instead! That is what I heard, at least. The simple fact is, if you talk to anyone important in Fashion, they will tell you Wintour's Vogue is no longer "King". Celebs and their teams, don't have it at the top of their lists anymore.

Also, of course Brie has the power to "toss" the cover, and she IS an A-list actress on top of every producers list!

Very interesting. I hope that's true - this is what Anna deserves.

Rumors are rumors. I don’t think Brie has the power to get major magazine covers. Why we are only talking about Vogue. Brie doesn’t embrace Elle, Bazaar or W.

Celebs now clamoring for UK Vogue because its now accessible, and that’s a fact. It’s not because of prestige, nor will it ever be about power.

Why bother with an American magazine that gave you 3 covers already, when you can expand your reach and have a UK one?

Only the celebs who’ve graced the cover US cover before have the luxury to reject another one.

As for others, any of the Big 3 American editions are still a dream. If any of these called, I don’t see them saying no.

Remember how Selena Gomez (shoot video) bagged Elle and Bazaar, and yet how she said that “when Vogue called its was like a dream come true” (something to that extent)

It’s very possible that several celebrities these days no longer care for US Vogue because of two things:
1. How it has lost its prestige considering the amount of questionable cover subjects Anna chose
2. Their publicist may have advised them that being featured by a magazine is no longer a means to an end as far as promoting a project or just simply oneself is concerned

In today’s digital age, a video interview is worth more than it used to be because when it comes to generating views and clicks, their results are generated in real time, thus making it easier for a publicist or marketing team to measure what touchpoint works and what doesn’t. Not to mention the fact that a video interview rarely has high bounce rate when embedded on a news site through which a celebrity’s opinion is often sliced and diced for the purpose of clickbait or sensational headline—blame it on the rise of social media for the lack of interest in reading and reliance on watching. The website that amplified the video through the aforementioned embed won’t have to share their traffic with the original source either whereas if say, the New York Times or The Cut were to feature an interview from Vogue, they have the obligation to cite the source thus increasing the bounce rate of people who check out the article. Pardon me for being a little technical here, but the thing is, the reason why a certain cover subejct isn’t featured by Vogue or whatever, isn’t necessarily or exclusively due to Anna’s politics or even their team’s. The whole thing is a lot more nuanced that we thought or made it out to be.

No it's not! What are you talking about, back your facts then, provide genuine proof that UK Vogue is all of a sudden accessible? It has EVERYTHING to do with power, and prestige because OF Edward, and what he has done so far in his role! Every celeb and their PR team wants to be part of his iconography, because they recognize the exciting work he is doing at the title. People are excited to collaborate with him. I am shocked you are implying its easy to get a UK Vogue cover, under Edward. Ask Gaga, why she didn't get it last year, even after tons of lobbying, or why Nicole Kidman people couldn't get her a solo cover!

Rumors are rumors. I don’t think Brie has the power to get major magazine covers. Why we are only talking about Vogue. Brie doesn’t embrace Elle, Bazaar or W.

Brie is a younger than 30, blonde Oscar winner. Of course she has the power. She’s every EICs dream because she’s a safe sale, even in this ‘woke’ era. Particularly in the demise of print magazine era. Especially for someone who’s not overexposed on magazines like Emma and Lupita, she still has the benefit of newness and freshness.

By the way, Brie was on the cover of Elle right before she won her Oscar. She has also covered Vanity Fair.

For people who follow magazines, cover subjects, etc. I’m surprised at how little you all know on here.

Im guessing every May cover will be a Game of Thrones actor.

Surely Emilia is an option for US Vogue’s cover? No ones done a group shot that’s actually any good. There’s such a strong female cast that could be shot so well together.

Brie Larson has been photographed for/featured in American Vogue a few times in the past 5-6 years and although she has done other magazines she's hardly a regular covergirl. Is she regularly covering any other specific magazine? As far as I'm concerned, it seems clear she doesn't court magazine covers or luxury brand endorsements the way many of her peers do. Brie has been to the Met Gala multiple times, and we know you've got to be on Anna's good side for that to happen. Everyone's pretending to have the scoop on her turning down the Vogue cover or Emma Stone turning down the cover. I think it's just wishful thinking on the part of people who hate Anna. When Brie inevitably gets an American Vogue cover and Emma Stone inevitably gets another, they'll be keeping mum. People always do that in this thread, I noticed. Pretend to have insider information, a hot scoop, a source. When whatever story they're telling winds up being false they never own up to selling smoke.

^ No one said anything about Emma.

Now as for Brie, I said it appeared as if Brie called the shots and choose a magazine with an EIC she’s a fan of versus having her PR people angle for or book Vogue.

This is a thread for rumor and speculation, right?

The problem with Brie choosing Laura over Anna and the fact that we are even speculating about it speaks to how much Vogue has fallen in esteem and prestige.

Even as recently as 5 years ago, Vogue wasn’t in as dire straits as it is now. Now, practically anyone (except if you’re a black actress who’s not Lupita, of course) can land this cover.

When an A-list blonde Oscar winning actress who is not even 30 yet is weighing her options to promote her blockbuster film and those choices are between InStyle and Vogue - there should be no option. Period.

What’s so hard to believe that Edward and his magazine is becoming the go to for prestige? If I were an actress who could potentially book UK or US Vogue and I have the chance to appear on the cover edited by Vogue’s first black EIC versus appearing on the cover and be in the company of Hailey, Priyanka, Selena and the various reality tv trash who has ‘graced’ Anna’s magazine in recent years, I’d choose Edward, no question. Why is it so hard for posters on this site to believe that if given the choice celebs want Edward’s cover and not Anna’s?

Very bizarre, but not surprising. Considering.

Lastly, Gwyneth, Amy Schumacher and Lena Dunham are previous cover girls who have all trashed the Met Gala recently and thus Anna indirectly, at least.

That’s a fact. And that was before Edward.

But Anna still is involved in their ventures, features them in her magazine. If Anna was so powerful, couldn’t she just ban them from the Gala, her magazine, partnerships? Anna hasn’t and won’t because she realizes she can’t. That speaks volumes.

Edited to add: ultimately it doesn’t matter if Brie does in fact end up covering Anna’s Vogue in the future. The fact that Captin Marvel is projected to earn up to 125 million this weekend and this will generate more interest in Brie and Anna the most powerful EIC ever (lol!) can’t capitalize on that right now? When she needs to sell magazines right now? Is pathetic. But sure, tell me how it was a good idea to put the Biebers (lol!) on her cover for a nonexistent wedding ceremony is a good idea again.

If you think no one mentioned Emma, you're not reading the same thread I am.

I'm on my phone, not at home, and typing up a long response is not something I want to do! I will read the full post and respond more thoroughly as soon as I'm able!

I typed my lengthy response on my phone (because ad blocker) with no problem but okay. Interested in your response.

British Vogue has posted a film on their Instagram with all the females from Game Of Thrones discussing their favourite scenes. Makes me think they had them all together in the same place for a reason.

Potentially not a cover but a feature next month?

Oh, I just saw it. It looks like a Seventeen Magazine supplement circa 2010.

^^GQ is trying hard to get into the q***r community (i had to censor the word cause the last time that I used it my comment was deleted *roll eyes*)

I’m not sure if this new formula will work at all considering the magazine is focused on straight male and not all gay/q***r men are into Gq at all.

I think the q***r card will work better with Vogue Hommes or Vogue Men suplements.
