I don't particularly like or dislike Billie (though full disclosure: I love Florence Pugh) but isn't Vogue being early to the hype train a good thing? I think they're generally pretty wise about which young stars to give covers to, choosing ones who continue to thrive in their careers. Not just anyone with a bit of new fame gets the cover. I mean, Florence's cover was planned months ago, before the release of Little Women and before the Oscar nomination, which was not widely predicted. In the past month or two she was on the rader in a big way and Vogue wasn't late to the game, they were first. Billie's star has been rising steadily since Vogue wrote about her, back when she was 14 or something but this is extremely timely, seeing as she just swept the Grammy Awards and is going to be performing at the Oscars. In addition to her fan base, there are millions more people likely just being introduced to her right around now, and Vogue's on it. Plus it's incentive for Gucci to buy advertising pages! haha
Let's just say it's not very Vogue. They better go the V magazine route and style her in anything but those ill-fitting sweatpants that make her look like an unmade bed. The magazine didn't even endorse it back in the Juicy Couture/Kimora Lee Simmons days.
