does it open all the way?...it would also make a great jacket...
you could slice it up the front...

Don't touch it!!! It's awsome as is and I echo Soft's suggestions. a belt would be great. If it's too big you could dart it on bothe the front and back in between the embroidery details. I like the idea of it being a jacket as well...could it be opened?

taking cool mens trousers w/ stripes and buttons etc. and cutting it so the a** is a tube top and wear the back part in the front...closure buttons in the back-wear it over a t-shirt...wearing camisole shirts/or cool knit vests with a reversible pattern inside out over a button down. fraying the edges of shirts and sewing a little in from the edge so it doesn't unravel.

i discovered that VV Rouleaux has opened a shop in Glasgow - I bought some amazing ribbons & trims. I bought a ruffled black grossgrain ribbon and a blacl half velvet half raw silk ribbon that I am going to sew onto a v neck jersey. I also bought a navy & silvery white striped ribbon which I am going to sewn into pleats around the hem of a l/s navy top. I also bought a long piece of think black woven black/white striped fabric that I can use as a longish loose belt a la dries van noten... I am pleased. can't wait to take my mum there - she is going to love it!!!

whereabouts in glasgow is that? sounds like a really nice shop... and may I say you always have fantastic customising ideas - very inspiring ^_^

thanks utopia. do you know glasgow? I dunno the name of the street but its just off Ingram street....I'll pm you with directions rather than clogging up this thread....its amazing. you'd love it I think. worth a trip.

VV Rouleaux is a beautiful shop, and it has such a wide range of trimmings for customising, but I find, as a student it is way out of any price range for simple customising, it's nice for a sneaky look round though ;)

FFF - it can mount up I suppose. The ribbons I got were all around £3.95 per metre. I got about 1.5 metres of each.

softgrey - I have tried to get a photo of the trousers but its hard to get the detail really. I will try again tonight.

...^^ that's not too bad, I've seen some way past that price, so i just upped and left before I really wanted to buy anything...it might have got dangerous :ninja:

thanks Hanne - I am looking forward to that too. I just hope it fits the image I have in my minds eye.....

It does open in the front but only right below my breast area.

I have some really basic leather sandals that I would like to dye/paint. Can anyone tell me how to go about doing that, what to use etc? Is there any way I could get a metallic finish on them?

I buy loads of vintage or unusual style clothes, some i customise with iron on sticking fabric, some i sew in different coloured thread, depending on the material. I have a pair of black trousers, that i really loved, its made from the type of material that melts when you leave the iron on too long. Thats what happened in fact, the iron was too hot, and it left a big iron print on the bottom, i refuse to throw them out, they were a really nice pair of dress trousers, with nice detailing at the waist. I had only worn them 2 times. I tried to burn the iron print all over it, but it hasnt worked, so i think i'll get some of those iron-on fabric and distribute them over the burned patches.

Other clothes i take to the dry-cleaners, and tell them what i want changing, not very expensive. I have a pair of designer shoes that i am going to have customised, as the back of my heel doesnt quite fit in:( . Its fun customising clothes, bags etc, because you know that no one else will be wearing the same things you are. The worse thing i ever did, was buy an outfit from a high street shop, and wore it out, i was so nervous that i'd see someone else in the same thing:o i never did it again.

I want to buy some plain tee's to "experiment" with. I want them to be s/s and cotton but not like scratchy but more soft and comfy. Anybody know of a place I can buy them wholesale? And not spend alot of $$$$$$$?
