seeing the sequins s/s o5 thread and this one gave me a brill idea to use a plain white or black tshirt and outline a face or something abstract in matte sequins.
and as i type, i've got a plain, very old white ribbed tank from topshop that's long overdue for some good changin'. i'm dying it a fun kool-aid-ish purple that looks kinda yummy and grape-y if you know what i mean :P

take pictures!!

i love this thread... it is so my bag. everything i own has been customized to fit me in one way or another.

today I...
- dyed my I  NY tee teal and spray painted godzilla's all over it. next i'm going to do some embroidery around the edges of each godzilla.
-made a too big dress wearable by regathering the waist and adding a better waistband
-bleached a vintage embroidered skirt white because it had a funny beige tinge. its bright white now though, yay! now all i have to do is repair some of the embroidery and lace on the hem
-started making a pattern out of an old vest with which I will make 2 new vests, one out of this strange basketweave fabric that is really light and airy, and another out of this hideous green, blk and white plaid wool skirt... it should be more funny that anything. :)

tommorrow I need to start cutting out pieces to make skirts for LA out of some old kimonos I found at a garage sale (the top parts are faded for some reason, I think the way they were folded, but the bottoms 1/2 is just gorgeous fabric)

 oceanharlot, i hear ya!

and thanks to your mentioning of the i  NY tee, i have another idea.
i'm chinese so i thought i would do a spin on it.... use a big fat calligraphy brush to write i  NY in chinese characters!

oh dear at this rate, i'd never get started on assignments :ninja: :innocent:

i customized an abercrombie jacket... i might sell it on ebay soon...

I often cut up 1930's night gowns to make into tops. You just snip the skirt off and voile!

spunsugar- i like that idea!
aimeeable- love the flower patches , did you cut them out of fabric? very nice

thanks!!! i cut the flowers from vintage fabric and I also cropped the jean jacket...

very nice! i want to put patches on a tee-shirt I have right now actually, i love cutting out an area and then sewing in a piece of fabric, lace or tulle behind it, especially in a design... i like to cut out names of bands and put cooler fabric behind them for a neat version of a rock tee.

i saw this one top with birds all over in, all sewn in patches, it was so rpetty, because everything was white with little brown outlines of the birds and the white thread sewing it together... so simple but really a lot going on.

I have a question for all of those hip on sewing and all... At Burberry, there is this gorgeous distressed leather trench that is 999, marked down from 2400... the only problem is that it is a size 40, but I normally wear a size 38... Can a leather garment be easily tailored/altered like anything else? is it worth it? I would really appreciate the input!

i think it will be difficult and therefore expensive...

leather is generally harder to work with and anything tailored takes more work and expertise as well...

it might cost $100 or more to alter...
but i guess that woul still be worth it if you are saving that much...

it all depends on how the jacket is constructed and where you need it altered...

good luck...:flower:

Ok, so it's not already realized, just a project... When I saw this post, I thought the little birds where too cute not to do something with them

So I tried to design some prints for a tee using the same kind of bird and here's the result :

I also made this one before :

But I think the more simple design on top looks definitely better.

What do you think of it ? Does it worth having it printed on a tee ? (I heard about a shop where they can do this with professionnal results)
And is it really bad to steal designs from H&M () to customize our clothes ?

^ Thanks so much, Softgrey. I think I am just going to get it because Burberry had their final reductions and it is now 799, so its now on hold... I doubt it will be a problem finding someone to tailor it.. they probably have a tailor at Burberry. I'll post a pic when I get it! :)
