The polka dot dress is a little too old lady for my liking but she looks good. I love when her hair is pin straight and the red lipstick looks great on her .

oh my goddd, her rodarte dress! and her grey balenciaga jacket!--i must get one!

I am so behind, when the hell did she become editor of POP?!!! Is there a thread discussing this development?

has the first issue of POP under her direction gone out??? I would like to know if she does changes, and how she manages the magazine... (taking into account she hasnt done anyth similar yet)

I've just seen a video of her and she speaks so wonderfully,I felt captivated ^_^ I think she's looking great in the Wang and also the Polka Dot dress which was a brave choice that I think works

i think we have to wait til september to see the first issue. :flower:

I don't know why anyone is worried about Dasha ruining POP. To be honest, she probably won't even do much work there. Let's be frank, she's a socialite. She isn't exactly going to toil away 14 hours a day the way most real editors do. I think she'll basically be the face of POP while someone behind the scene does the actual editor's job.

^14 hours a day? That's very unrealistic imo. Only daily newspapers editors put in that kind of hours.
And I wasn't aware Pop was such a sacred monster...

She is going to ruin Pop and everything it once stood for.

Sincere, not rhetorical, question: What does Pop stand for in your opinion?

Like Harumi, I wasn't aware Pop was such a highly esteemed magazine until all the hoopla over Katie Grand leaving to edit Love magazine. (In fact, it seems like there were scant analytical reviews of magazines until recently; I like this development, it might help some editors step up to the plate.)

I'll be honest, I only have one issue of Pop, because it's very expensive. It was the "Gothic" issue, and it's very well-done, but imo not enough to warrant a cult-like readership. Having looked at Love, I see that Grand focuses on and excels at the visual aspect of editing, as in art direction and such. There is a lot of depth and symbolism to many of the images, and I give her credit for that.

Visual prowess may be enough to make plenty of people happy, but I for one enjoy good journalism. This is what Dasha mentioned she'd like to develop further, along with tying fashion in more to other pop culture, like art and literature. For all my beef with her getting hired as editor, I can't find any fault in her objectives.

As for how many hours of work she'll log in, or how much substantial control over the magazine's direction she'll have, I've no idea. Whether she'll just be a high-profile poster girl or "marionette" for the magazine remains to be seen.

I'd like to know how tall Dasha is... she looks super tall in many photos, but then I've seen pics of her with Camilla Fayed and they look about the same (Camilla is not that tall)... I guess it's those heels they like to wear :D

Here's some HQs,

Sophie Delaporte: Needleworks - Private View, September 2008

Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture (GCCC), September 2008

Vogue Russia 10th Anniversary - Grand Gala, November 2008

Russian Fashion Week: Vassa, April 2007

I agree she'll have help but POP is a great publication with a great creative reputation. Mostly thanks to M&M, but they left so...

that's exactly what i've always assumed she'd do. I mean didn't they hire her because she's got Abramovich $$$$ behind her? :innocent:

in the days of the Global financial crisis, and mags/media outfits folding left right and centre, can't argue with the moolah.

I couldn't agree more!!

I thought it was already established that she'll be more of the face/figurehead of the magazine? She has major connections and the $ doesn't hurt either. I think the quote that said this was posted a few pages back.
