I LOVE the Cavalli ad because...to echo Callidora's sentiment...this ad is different from her other F/W ads. The body lines...the way her leg and arms are in alignment are lovely to see. That leg...!:woot: I never thought I'd use this word with Daria...but I think she looks fierce here!

well, you're still new to daria... :p
fierce is one of the words that best describe her change since last year.
that's actually my theory. in 2005 she's become fierce, more physical, after a 2004 that brought her into the olympus of modeling but with a *high price*: she had to give up that physical strenght she had in 2003. in 2005 (year of some crisis btw) she recovered it and now in 2006 we have this stratospheric model who's simply the greatest of her generation. amen.
we may like it or not, but if you compare this ad to the chanel pics, well, you can't almost believe it's the same model. and that is not only the power of photoshopping! :D

i still have to articulate a proper opinion on the ad. i'm reflecting on callidora's words (btw, you don't have to blush, actually, your posts usually enlight aspects that at first i don't focus on enough).

interesting. thanks! :flower:

Her Chanel ads are nice enough but not that good IMO. No, this Cavalli ad is the best ad she's ever done, even better than the YSL ones. I really like it when she looks like a party animal  The alignment of her arms and legs, and their symmetrical angles and that beyond magnificently creamy chest. I love the lighting. It's not just overexposure, because that just gives a washed out look, it's radiance. ohk, I'm gonna stop right there before I start sounding like a harlequin novel  Anyway, I would love to know if it's really M&M. I could imagine it's them because even though it has the 70s trademark which M&M may not often toy with, it still is so perfect which is one of their trademarks.

Well....that's not necessarily true. I've followed...and admired Daria from when I was in Milan a few years back and picked up that Vogue Italia issue with the lion's mane hair. (regretfully, I've given that issue to a colleage at work who looks much like Daria). I did come to this thread rather late in the game, true.:p

But you're right -- fierce could have been applied to past incarnations of Daria. I'm just happy to see this fierce version in one of the new ads.^_^

could anyone post this ed please?? I just cant find it!!!!

go here: http://www.mfbb.net/thelab/viewtopic.php?t=40&start=0&mforum=thelab

i'm sure there are better scans of some pics, but i don't have them cos i bought the issue. again, when i get the scanner, i'll do scans.
that is one of my fave editorial, an u-turn in her career imo.

shana, i was joking. i'm sure you know a lot about the girl! :flower: :p

iluvejeisa, very clear! :) but i don't know if i agree.
i like this ad because we can appreciate daria's transformism and she's so incredibly good, but my heart goes to other versions. actually i find her face rather asymmetrical. when i work on pics of hers and i reverse them, well, she's so different! we can't see her face properly here, it seems to me there's a lot of photoshopping though. her nose looks too regular.

thanks hellgirl! precious scans again! :)

She's make the greatest Catwoman...!:woot:

p.s. thanks helligirl for the German Glamour scan!

I think all of Daria's campaigns are amazingly wonderful with the exception of Versace, which, after further examination doesn't hold a candlestick to the other three. I think they could have done the nineties supermodel feel to the ads without making them so thouroughly uncreative.

^I think Versace is more about familar faces in sexy poses. Period.^_^

You're totally right about that. I just think they could have made it more intense, maybe with all the girls standing and grabbing onto each other. Then you could see the way the dresses fall more clearly. As it is, in the main group shot, the only dress you can really see well is Daria's, because she's the only girl whose body line isn't broken up. And Christy Turlington looks awful and out of place.

there's something clumsy in that versace ad. no real interaction, the models don't look convinced. daria is the best one . and i'm not saying that because it's daria.
the sunglasses pic with kate reminds me of a prada ad with buswell. actually the more i look at the cavalli ad, the more i see some resemblance with some of the autumn 05 chanel campaign. obviousy setting and atmosphere are totally different, but there's something in daria's pose. i'll reflect more on that, maybe it's just an impression.
who's the photographer of cavalli? i read something about that in the numéro 75 thread.

anyway, versace was shot by testino... testino for retirement?

p.s.: still watching cavalli. the pose is so classic, i mean, the balancement between hands and legs. she's a vampire coming back from ancient greece... *delirium*

hey i'm looking for the ed where she's in a wedding dress and she's just sort of sitting on grass or something of that nature. She also had one of the mickey mouse shaped masquerade masks. TIA dudesss

that's "noches blanches" by inez and vinoodh - vogue paris, april 2006.
one of her best eds of this exceptional year.

you have two choices:
1) go to the same link i gave ruben, but some pages after, like 6 or 7 (post #7068).
(sorry for saying again, but there you can find all the editorials, interviews and covers since may 2005 and most of the ads);
2) use the "search this thread" function above typing some of the words of the title and/or photographers.

^Thanks so much, i tried typing in "wedding dress" and had no luck so i just decided to ask ^_^
I'm gonna put that pic in the who i'd like meet section in my myspace profile :rolleyes::wub:
