BIOGRAPHY

Daria... her infinitely pure features, an unforgettable look and feline eyes that capture and intrigue you with their gaze. For the last two years, she has been the centre of attention and the talk of the town. We want to bombard her with questions. Yet, we hardly dare to, as we don’t want to disturb the aquatic blue of her eyes. Little by little, she reveals herself during the conversation.


ORIGINS

I was born on 19 November, 1983 in Krakow, Poland. I have a Ukrainian background and I grew up in Toronto, Canada. Nice mix, isn’t it? Maybe that’s why I love travelling, meeting people and seeing very different places.


PHOTOGRAPHERS

Working with Steven Meisel is like going to modelling school. You learn how to use each part of your body like a tool. Helmut Newton was a major honour. And a major challenge. They are the reason I am who I am today.


LANCÔME

I feel very close to Lancôme and its vision of femininity: elegant, not superficial, sensitive, generous. I like the idea that Lancôme ambassadresses share their warmth and personality with the brand.

EYES

My eyes are my tools of seduction. Eyes are a key point in communicating with others. If you look at people, you can see in their eyes if they are sad, angry or happy. You can see their soul in them. I think seduction is a talent that women have within them naturally. It’s like a gesture. The more mysterious you are, the more seductive you seem. I’m someone who likes eye contact.

Agreed. Her omniprescence would be almost ridiculous if it wasn't for the fact that Kate Moss had literally ten campaigns. (Dior, Burberry, CK Jeans, Versace, LV, Bulgari fragrance, Longchamp, Belstaff, Nikon, Rimmel = 10 ) Makes Daria's five look almost quaint, lol. This is definitely the season of Kate and Daria (and Malgosia Bela, oddly enough, who also has 5).

Wow, considering there are supposed to be 7 models in the LV campaign, Daria I think is the only one in print so far. We've already seen 3 LV ads for her so far.

well, one stays away for one day and when she's back, a lot of changes and new things!
can't say i like the new lancome ad so much... she looks like a barbie, which isn't exactly what i find sexy and interesting in a woman.
i appreciate that fact that it isn't a close up picture, maybe it's another sign of that bigger focus on her body more than her face... as pointed out by callidora, but actually i'm still reflecting on this issue, i'm not so sure about that.

about the latest lv ad... well, it seems like at a certain point daria was like "okay, i'm fed up with these bags and violet nails and stuff, now guys just take a pic of myself". it seems that the hand-in-the-pocket pose has become a new signature of hers.

i like it when she says that meisel was a master for her. especially because i happen to read blogs where meisel is seen as one of the responsible of models' decadence.

don't read trashy blogs, Meisel is the model-maker, one of the best (if not the best) fashion photographer of the 90's and probably 00's. I also liked what Daria said about Newton

I totally agree. Steven Meisel is amazing; despite all the new hot photographers who dominate campaigns today, Meisel is the one whose work I almost always love. Now IT Vogue is pretty much his stomping ground, and Coco Rocha seems to be the girl he's focusing on, and he can even manage to make her look good at times. I miss the Daria/Meisel extravaganza from her earlier work.
