Could that not also be said of a professional athlete who plays a game with amateurs, even though he could he playing a real game vs. pros? Not so much a waste of a talent then just having fun, no?

I think sometimes, everyone wants to feel beautiful. Yeah, the crazy hair and funky makeup/poses are very artistic and edgy, but every once in a while, girls like to get their hair/makeup done nicely and look conventionally beautiful. Maybe that's just me.

Anyways, I the new work she's been doing and can't wait to see more analysis of it on your blog, eword! You have very interesting commentary.

eerr... could you explain to me what getting hair/makeup done nicely and feeling beautiful has to do with airbushing and cheesy posing? maybe the key word is the one you're using, 'conventional'.
it's true that unfortunately very often also editorials that should stay in the tasteful side are ruined by retouching, but it seems to me that in general airbushing has much to do with obsession for perfection, the same underlying plastic surgery and stuff. that's a sick and fake ideal of beauty, i'd say the opposit that daria expresses or at least tries to express when she's allowed to do it.
and c'mon... do you really want daria to look conventional? are you really happy with her looking like any other beautiful girl in the planet? do you really want her to lose her unconventional features and charme? to look like an anonyme celebrity?

and about a model doing a cheesy editorial for fun... eer, are we talking about the same model? about daria?

to finally add a personal note, let me say my deepest thoughts. it's something more than daria. i think that i could define what you call 'conventionally beautiful' as 'conventionally heterosexually beautiful'... well, let me say that i find zero charme in a conventional, stereotyped, 'elle-like', heterosexual beautiful girl...
the idea of daria looking like that kills me! and it seems that this year 'they' have finally understood how not to humiliate daria's beauty.

yeah, i don't like girls like valentina and doutzen, especially doutzen and her real supermodel potential. about julia s., it depends on the way she's styled.
at the same time i don't like the aliens and similar.

To Caroliiine & Eword:

What I like about Daria is that she could be very classy and feminine à la Romy Schneider and she also could be very Edgy and Androgenious. So it's cool to see Daria doing some coventionnal and Artistics things. But I agree with eword about that F******* airbrushing. Every eyelashes ads is sooooo fake. We are not stupid enough to believe that with that eyelashes we will have those as long as "faux cils".
