She is much more commercially likeable/prettier than Gemma W or any of the top mdoels atm. IMO because a lot of my friends see her in Lancome ads and shes always in magazines for style just the name 'daria Werbowy' not like 'a model at etc etc'
if its her or Gemma the public would like better its Daria. Shes not alien looking and can get commercial contracts like lancome whereas gemma cant get loreal or something because she isnt likebale in that way.

Daria isn't a hard beauty 'to get' for the regular people, what makes her easier to sell. She's just beautiful in almost every culture I can think of. And this is what society wants right now: the rich, the beautiful, the fabulous and the famous. I doubt my brother could ever see the beauty I see in Gemma, but he thinks Daria is gorgeous.

but she's truly a legend in the modeling and fashion industry.
i don't think i could picture or even want daria chatting up with jay leno or david letterman trying to hawk some random product anyways.

Agree. This is what I'm saying. Daria can be a supermodel but she would have to attend a lot of events and maybe even date a ALIST celebrity but I dont think thats her style

Daria's personality just isnt a supermodel material, people should have see that by now... she could have been, if she pushed further more, last year when she gave lancome interviews and promotions everywhere
being a supermodel needs a lot of exposure, to become a celebrity, which people generally achieve that by going to a lot of parties, getting drunk or having some famous boyfrd

^ i see that this kind of debate is ciclic... anyway, i'm with pinkylam, if she really aimed at being a celebrity, she had her opportunities... she didn't catch them, which means she isn't interested, it's evident, it's also what she constatly says.

^I agree, Daria has had her chances, although that doesnt mean there won't be more. Perhaps being well known as a model isn't as appealing to her as being known for having an occupation with a more intellectual and socially relevent element to it. The term "supermodel" is sort of a generic term used nowadays for models well known within the fashion industry, I think the term "top model" would be an appropriate term to use for the models of today.

Did she date Josh Harnett (a celabraty)? That debate is still ??? to me, because I don't know what to think about that. I think she's at the same level that Carolyn Murphy, Angela Lindvall or Shalom Harlow, but she's not a paparazzi victim as Naomi, Claudia, Kate, Cindy or Gisele. My father don't know who is Linda Evangelista or Christy Turllington and they are Supermodels... so... still don't know what to think.

About all this "is daria a supermodel?" Definitely she is! i mean, yes she had her chances to be 'mainstream' like all of you are saying, but she is a FASHION ICON, IMO! all the shows, covers, eds! She is IT! She has had one of the most promising HIGH FASHION careers, which everyone here seems to be obssess with HF & Daria's career has been extremely lenghty in HF. Gemma, yes is a supermodel too, but she's more trendy-ish. Daria's look overall is CLASSIC. Gemma started a new look trend/fad.

Who cares if her personality is 'supermodel' material when she is clearly a SUPERMODEL! not a topmodel, but SUPERMODEL. you can't take away her credentials. She's amazing no matter how you look @ it is one of the most versatile models while still being highfashion AND sexy.

& i agree, my parent's wouldn't know Linda or Christy either
But they are still supermodels
So that makes Daria just as much of a supermodel. Time doesn't mean anything.

i was looking through a magazine once and one of daria's ads was in it. my friend saw it and asked me "is she that gisele person?"

in fashion world she may be a supermodel but a lot of regular people don't know her like they do kate moss or gisele. it think it's like in the film industry... there are huge hollywood actors (household names) and there are indie actors (cult following).
