Young designer Daryl van Wouw is becoming very popular here, check out his latest show (Spring Summer 2007) here:

I dunno about the record earring or the shoes, but the rest is really interestingly put together. I wish there was a close up/HQ shot of the print on the clothing, it looks nice.

It's quite trashy...not in the "good" way...looks like a rather limited imagination too. The record & cassette necklace is really bad taste, not witty. :( Sorry...I usually LOVE Dutch designs.

Kind of boring, I liked his previous collections more. I must say, of the Dutch Fashion designers, Daryl (and Percy Irausquin) are the ones that are the least impresive. Both design and quality, I have seen the work of other Dutch designers, like Jan Taminiau, Spijkers&Spijkers and Edwin Oudshoorn, in the museum in The Hague (den Haag) And there collections were all so much better. (the quality of Taminiaus designs is amazing)
By the way, I know 2 people who worked on this collection.

Looks like one of the past Chanel collections, can't remember which one though.

That site's "Balcony Serenade" soundtrack mix nearly made me jump out of my skin. The black and white palette seems odd with some of the shapes and silhouettes: it's busy and minimalist at once. Strange, boxy shapes on very angular models, leggings with saggy crotches? The first few dresses look to have some frilly crinolines under them? The more purely sporty, form-fitting stuff is nice, and the gowns that appear to be bias-cut. I suppose if were 18 again and had no hips, I'd be all over this. I fear now the look would just emphasize how built on the curve I've become.

I think some of the prints are great
Some look handpainted

^I don't think they are, they spend only two weeks making this collection (I heard from my friend) I don't think they had time.

Yeah Chanel is what came to my mind as well, the collection with the cassettes and Vive La Fête... few years back, still I think it has an edge and it looks very cool. Better than L.A.M.B or J-Lo's wannabe streetcredible designer looks.

He is hyped in the Netherlands, but i don't think he's a fantastic designer. The stuff he does has all been done before and the quality is so poor it makes me cry!
All the young girls here like it though. He's more like a popstar. always wears a headphone with no music on it. (it's his "image")
If his work belongs anywhere, it's in the elle-girl. Not in serious magazines imo.
sorry.

I think the entire Amsterdam Fashion Week is based on this dramatic urge to feel important and be in popular demand. Those who might possess true talent you never or barely hear of in the right places.

Daryl van Wouw is definitely Ellegirl material. I'm fine with that, just not with the fact people will regard him and his fellows as part of the new Dutch generation designers, excusez moi. :ninja::doh:

Very true, Daryl and Percy are horrible (Percy even worse) they are one of the reasons I don't buy Dutch magazine any more, they are on every page. :yuk:

I don't think his quality is that bad. Having met him and worked with him, I actually quite like his work. He's also super nice, which is a rarity these days amongst designers.
