Derek Lam Bags

To be honest I'm mildly pleased that the Derek Lam bags are going on sale. The problem with the bags wasn't that they weren't appealing, it was that the price was just a tad too steep. Just a few hundred less and they would be sold out because they are gorgeous bags that are very different from anything else thats out there.

Still have my fingers crossed for a Persephone (even though its discontinued) love that bottle green

To be honest, I was glad that I didn't get the Persephone when it first came out, it's a great bag, but I would not pay retail for it (over USD$2K).
It's pretty much how Luxx puts it, gorgeous bags but the retail price just cannot be justified!

The price is steep but the quality is SO there!! The hardware is truly jewelry caliber - the suede lining, the gorgeous thick leather. When you compare the price of the Derek Lam to many of the others (like Prada for example), it is priced pretty well.

what i have noticed with the new clutches, at the least the ones i have seen in neiman marcus, is that they are no longer lined in suede, but with fabric instead! have anyone noticed this with the persephone, violet, or hildegard bags? and it seemed that the quality of the leather was not as soft as the first generation of bags.

I have the crackled patent which I love the look of but the quality is the worst I've seen The leather just crubled slowly and ripped on two of the tabs that hold the handle, and its not like I carry bricks in it. I took it to get repaired and they just glued it together it epoxy glue. Thankfully cant tell b/c of the texture.

^ OMG! That is just horrible. I am shocked. Where did you buy it? Did you not just want to return the bag altogether? I wonder if it has to do with how they did the crackled patent. But, no matter, that is just unacceptable. Gosh, Guess, I am sorry to hear about that.

If anyone is still interested, Barney's has some Derek Lam bags on sale. They have the ram's head clutch, plus Hildegard bags for $448 (down from $1800)! They still had one brown and two black when I left this evening. I got a brown one.

I'm so happy I can't stop staring at it! Here are some modeling pics for reference, please excuse the grungy look, I'm in my pj's about to tuck off to bed...

The bags on the very first page of this thread are wonderful. I don't typically go for bags of any sort, but they've got such an classic, timeless quality to them that I'm somehow attracted to. I imagine the price tag is something to behold, however.

And his new season's bags. Chic, understated, though borderline non-descript. They bear nothing or whatsoever of the trademark he's been trying to build.

Hera hobo for $1450:

Sonia small east-west tote for $1450. This looks like a Gryson bag and the pricing is a bit off (if the hobo above is $1450, you'd think this should be slightly less), but I do like the color.
