Girl Crush of the Moment! Diane Kruger
She’s regarded as one of the best-dressed starlets on the red carpet—designers from Chanel to Jason Wu to the Marchesa duo have clamored to clothe her—but Kruger isn’t the least bit stuck-up about fashion. The 33-year-old former model confesses she has a penchant for cheap, trendy earrings: “I just bought some feathery ones for $5.99,” she says. And when she splurges on something, it has to be classic enough to wear year after year. Currently she’s on the hunt for a pair of heels that will make her taller than her boyfriend, actor Joshua Jackson: “He’s 6’2” and I’m 5’7”,” she says, “so it’s not easy!”
In Quentin Tarantino’s new black comedy, Inglourious Basterds, Kruger appears with Brad Pitt, her former Troy costar, whom she calls “very human and very relatable.” For the role of spy Bridget Von Hammersmark, she had to abandon glamour for some seriously grody role-playing. “There’s one scene where I get shot in the leg, and Brad’s character is sticking his finger into my fake wound,” Kruger recalls. “Fake blood is really sticky, so after the fifth take, he couldn’t get his finger out.” All in a day’s work, says Kruger, who found a way to deal. Hey, would you complain if Brad Pitt couldn’t take his hands off you?
