LolaSvelt, I agree. Pushing Laurent as Lead Actress is really not helping her chances (then again, I never saw the movie. I don't know how big her part is). Weinstein probably doesn't want Laurent competing against his golden girl, Penelope Cruz.

Based on buzz and critical acclaim, I think Kruger's nomination belongs to the fabulous Julianne Moore. I like Diane, but I think this was a fluke. I strongly doubt she's nominated for the Oscar or BAFTA.

I must say I'm shocked too, mainly because it's not deserved. She is an "average" actress, not bad but far away from being great. Her performance was "ok"...
They should have picked Dame Judi Dench or Julianne Moore over her

It's such a shame, she deserves it infinitely more than Kruger (who was good, but come on) Hopefully they'll change their tactics and back Melanie for supporting actress before the baftas and oscars...

She also should have got a Golden Globe nom. Meryl didn't need two.

But on the bright side it means we will get to see Diane in some amazing gowns next year so yay.

Well Inglourious Basterds is in the Drama category, I think she was in contention for Best Actress, Drama.

Well with all the Inglourious Basterds love this Award Season, you can count on Diane to turn up at most of the Award Shows. She's also up for Best Ensemble with the rest of the cast at the Critics' Choice Awards. She'll probably attend the Golden Globes and the Oscars, too. Cant go wrong with Diane in CHanel dresses I love the white dress and the purse and the floral one especially is my favorite look from that amazing collection, I hope she wears more from this collection, she is the perfect model for it, getting pumped for award season

^ Around 2000/2001 Ewan McGregor said in some interview that Minnie Driver had "sold out" to Hollywood and would "attend the opening of an envelope". Minnie fired back saying he had sold out by doing (and I quote) "f*cking Star Wars". It's quite a funny story if you think about it cause it's pathetic. I've always remembered it.

So the saying "attend the opening of an envelope" has since because one of those insults that gossip columnist throw around. You don't want to have that label.

Melanie's snub has nothing to do with Diane. They were pushing her for Best Actress, not Best Supporting Actress and it ruined her chances of getting nominated.
