I was typing the exact thing! how about "tse" (as in the sweaters)? is it "shay"? and I thought margiela was "mar-gee-elle-uh".

I think it's Maar-jee-lah. But I don't really know.

^I don't think anyone meant to be mean. :flower:

I've always wondered why so many people spell Miu Miu "Mui Mui". I see that ALL the time.

Maybe they weren't trying to be mean, but some people may view it as being mean. I just wanted to bring attention to it.

<3 ME.

Loewe, is one that I bet few people can pronounce and one that I was pronouncing wrong for ages until Tim Blanks on Fashion file said "l'oie'vie".

^ That doesn't really help me. Could you spell it phonetically? :D

Earlier someone posted on the pronunciation of a few Japanese designers and I just wanted to add a few additions to what was mentioned:

Rei Kawakubo-
Rei: the "r" is like a Spanish rolled r (as someone mentioned), but roll it only once. Don't go with a full rolled "r." So, you get something sounding closer to "Day" than "Ray" or "Lay" or the "r" in Roberto.

Kawakubo- there is actually very little stress in Japanese, compared to English. But, there is a SLIGHT stress on the second syllable (as someone mentioned), but not too much. So, it is more like KAH- WAH- KOO- BOW than kaWAAAAkubo.

Issey Miyake-
EE-SAY ME-YAH-KEH The last syllable ISN'T like "key", but more like "keh."

Mihara Yasuhiro- MEE-HAH-RAH (again, the "r" is between an English r, l, and d... the same as in Rei Kawakubo) and YAH-SUE-HEE-ROW, with a SLIGHT stress on the 3rd syllable.

As for the other questions, Martin Margiela is Mar-tan (LIGHT on the "n" though, not a full American 'n") and Mar-zhee-ela. Also, go easy on the "zhee."

^ Indeed!

How do you pronounce Theyskens?
Is the th like the or is the h mute?

also, is chloe just pronounced like the name is? or is pronounced in the french way with an accent on the e? i think there is an actual accent about the e on the logo, but i seem to hear everyone pronouncing it without the accent....
