I always hesitate before I say Carine Roitfeld out loud and I FINALLY found a video that shows the correct way to pronounce it Turns out, I've been pronouncing it correctly all along.

tally is right for tagliapietra, but "gli" is difficult to explain with an english word...
is like saying guglielmo

oh the russian r like pronounciation? you don't know what "russian r" stands for? it's not the american pronounciation of r but russian that's different.

the "russian r" is stronger (vibrant) than the american r.
we could say it's also an "italian r" of course, or even a "spanish r", but i guess russian exemplifies it best, because it's what people tend to exaggerate when they try to do a russian accent.
