Just watch the Hermes show on Fashion Files. It's pronounced a whole bunch of times, all the same way by a handful of different people.

Hey i was watching this vid on louisvuitton's website.. and jacobs pronouced it as being "Loo eee Vwee ton"

so yah :S:S:S:S:S ?? confused ay

Also my friend said "Guck key" once for pronouncing Gucci.. and also another said "Ver say see" for Versace... not very cultural conscious huh!!!

metal, i know why i thought that. Because i remember reading an article on him awhile back and they put the pronounciation as Slim-Man-E.

Ok not so much a big name designer but, is it Ernest Sewn, like Earnest SOWN, or Earnest SOON?

I've heard them pronounced both ways?

I think people think if they pronounce someone's name in the most outlandish way possible, they will cover up the fact that they don't have a clue and in turn start others questioning if their pronounciation is right.

It's a vicious cycle.

is the A in Lanvin like in Man or Lawn

I usually pronounce it Lawn-vingt (like how twenty would be pronounced in french) but I dont know if its right

That's correct :). Lawn-vingt as you would pronounce Vin, French for wine. Being in Europe it comes no natural, it must be a challenge for Americans to get all those names right :P . I must say I had a problem with DKNY (years ago), deee-kay-and-why. (decay and why? haha)

I'm discovering that I say wrong a lot of designer's names!
But, Balenciaga, well I'm spanish and it's pronounced with a sound that doesn't exist in english, it's an spanish sound difficult to find an equivalence in other languages. The c from balenciaga is pronounced with this sound, between an "s" and a "z".
