Wow thanks tealady! ;)

YES!! THANKS TEALADY!!! THIS SITE IS AWESOME. I am bookmarking it!

I needed helped on Ermenegildo Zegna, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac

Okay...I watched the NYC Fashion Week 2-hour special on the Style Network, and there was a funny segment on the pronunciation of Proenza Schouler. Clip after clip of mispronunciations. Then a few clips of the designers being asked about it. And they repeatedly said "Skooler", like "high school". So there ya have it, for any doubters out there.

i don't know if this has been brought up in this thread yet or not... i can't search...but let's clear this up:

how do you pronounce lobuoutin? ...i'm pretty sure the way i pronounce it is right, but i'm not exactly sure... i pronounce it "loo-boo-teen," because that's the way it should be pronounced if i know my french right.....but i've also heard dumb people pronounce it "loo-boo-TON" (the o prounounced like "ah" or as in the way dumb people say VATON instead of vuitton) ... but that makes no sense whatsoever. "-tin" in french does NOT sound like "-TON" at all..... am i right?!!?

yeesh!!

?!?!?!?! how?

the "tin" of Louboutin is pronounced as in "vin" (wine) loo-boo-tan (barely pronouncing the n)

Only if there was an e on the end, it would be pronounced "lou-bou-teen"

that's what i meant... i pronounce it like that already (-tin sounding like -vin like wine)... i KNEW i was correct :innocent: B)

i've just heard some dumb people pronounce it loo-boo-TON as in when people mispronounce vuitton as va-TON ... :yuk:

How do you pronounce Bottega Veneta?

I guess I'd like to know how to say this before I go looking.

Hope I can explain it in print...here goes a try:

"Bo" is like bow(that is a bow that you tie - not like after a performance). "tt" is a hard t like when saying Tom. egga kind of rimes with mega - just sit a little longer on the gg's (thus the double consonant) and make the e sound a little bit more like "augh". Ven is like the beginning of the word "ven"ice . "a" is a soft a (augh). "ta" Is a hard t with a soft a (taugh),

Hope this isn't confusing - its hard to explain some sounds in print - they don't exactly exist in English....

Sorry - was a little sleepy when I made my last post. Have thought of a simpler way to explain - it's not exact - but I bet you'll say it better than the salespeople...
